Several weeks ago I looked at some galaxy generation algorithms which would work pretty well in place of the boring static galaxies we have. Basically it places a bunch of randomized stars in a selected area and shapes them. In sm a 3d elliptical space can be selected for galaxy generation...
And if you don't know much about the cookie planets go back several (20 or so?) versions and you'll find that the planets are flat cookie things and not big lagging dodecahedrons. There have also been a few uploaded to the dock as stations and saved sectors.
Linear measurement can be a thing with this tool just as long as two dimensions remain the same size (a line would be usually one block) while selecting so the tool can function as both.
That's an interesting idea. Maybe if ctrl + left click is used to place the second selection point the...
Hmm sure. I was thinking more of selecting one block is selected and a second one is selected and the tool measures the selected dimensions and outputs the measurement in a message (like how error messages display as a box at the top left of the view) in a length/width/height in blocks format.
The building area box in advanced build mode (the placement box which can be scaled with those x/y/z sliders) works as a measuring tool but requires tweaking and is annoying to use as a measuring tool so a "dedicated" measuring tool would be useful. The tool could use those selection boxes which...
I'm guessing you might come back and hog the resources once the universe update is in release? That is if certain mechanics aren't going to be an issue at that time.
Since the server supports p2 the integrity mechanic exists even with p1 ships so upgrades will be necessary. Even a wimpy missile can take a large chunk out of a structurally unstable ship. Also that ship Latterous had me take to camp a player and smash a planet has a few holes in it probably...
weird shapes eh? That could be what I need for shield generators and ftl drives. My reactor style currently uses a cube with its corners cut off and lots of greeble to form the machine. Maybe if I make a sphere with things sticking out of it
