      Look at the orientation of your weapons computer. From what I've noticed, that's what determines the direction that the weapons fire. The "screen" should be facing rear of where you want your weapons to be pointing

      I'd thought about it before I came up with the "set it anywhere you want" option. How about a compromise... A turret with the catapult. Difference being, when you set the coordinates after docking, it rotates you around (slowly) to face the direction.
