I appreciate the post, but I don't know if you understand what some of us are getting at, oh glorious Schemalord.

A few of us don't want to watch Mushroom Fleet videos to obtain our news on upcoming features in StarMade. Some of us don't have the time or the will to watch six minute videos that contain a couple dozen seconds of news. We simply ask that someone makes a weekly or biweekly news post/blog post/something of that sort with a paragraph or two that lays out some stuff going on in the devbuilds, planned upcoming features, etc. It doesn't necessarily have to be you. I know that the testers are some of the most well endowed in StarMade as far as info goes. Perhaps one or more of them could take the time to write up a brief summary of recent events. Just something to let the community know what is going on.

That addresses one of the first issues we noted; the Schine Team and the community hardly interact anymore.

Our point is, we want the news of upcoming features to go to other outlets.
i will talk with the guys,we did talk.. about "unofficial official" news videos,so if that bothers you guys sooo much,we will do it

Schema, do you use Twitter? If time is an issue, maybe it could be worth making occasional updates there so we can see what you're doing. A daily "first pass on shield balancing today" or "giving new AI a test, take a look (youtube link)" I think it could go a long way.

If you already do this, try publicising it.

Maybe look into having your Twitter posts also be posted to the site. The DayZ forums have a topic called 'Dev Tracker' that automatically posts Twitter and Reddit posts from the DayZ devs. That tends to keep people happy between dev blogs and updates.

    http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/138-devtracker/

In fact, having Twitter also update on the forums in beneficial to people who don't use Twitter, such as myself.

Again, it doesn't have to be too frequent - a few times a week would be enough for most. People just like to know what's going on. This is a great community, and people feel invested in the game that the community is centered around. I guess people feel disheartened when they feel that they're being left in the dark - even if that isn't necessarily the case.
There's a StarMade twitter, I follow it. It's not very active though.

    What is going on :(
Why are people insulting others in this thread? MF helps a great deal. I remember at the start of the year they and friends were basically the only people putting out videos, while others made it their job to just complain on the forums. Of course I'm involved with them, as I am with other helpful people that got in contact with me.

I don't get why there is so much negativity sometimes. I love the community, but I don't understand why there has to be so much drama.
The problem with MushroomFleet is that there is too much shallow hype surrounding them; they've basically become Starmade's equivalent of Yogscast. They've become mainstream in a bad way. I personally think their "yhole" memes and whatnot are over-exaggerated, and not funny/entertaining at all. Having to skim through their long livestream videos just to figure out what's going on in the latest dev build is incredibly annoying, and it'd be nice if we had another source other than them.

I personally fell that MushroomFleet and Schine have basically morphed into one big entity, and meanwhile the rest of the community is considerably detached from what the higher-ups is doing. It feels like Feudalism.
Oh, and I personally am bored of all the British gaming personalities out there for indie games on the internet; I realize they're popular, but it's almost become cliche from my point of view. And MushroomFleet has a ton of that, so I don't like to watch their videos very often, because I can easily close my eyes and imagine I'm watching Yogscast or some other extremely cliche gaming channel.

Regardless, I have played with them before on livestreams in the past, back when I was still willingly a tester, and they're pretty fun people to play with. Although, the positions they have means they're often very busy, so you don't get to have fun with them much, because they're doing their professional-kinds-of-things quite often.

I don't know what to say. I just know that planned features not getting mentioned anywhere other than a Muhsroom video is probably not a good idea.
The only reason MushroomFleet has the information is because we er Tom is being cold by Calbiri.

I mention what is planned in the news when I can. I don't like telling to much about plans. Especially not making it official, because I can't say for sure if it works. I mention plans on streams talking to people, because there is currently a stream on I watch. I also answer questions of people in other streams, but most of the time it's MF for the simple reason that there is no other stream on.

Those plans are not official, and MF isn't really talking about plans in videos. 99% of the time he showcases dev videos and releases, as well as all the things on the current build.

MF is supposed to be a secondary news outlet in a way, as we don't have the money to hire someone to do that for us.

But I would give the same information to anybody other I say on the stream. I just don't want to officially announce it specifically, because that just does a lot of unnecessary discussion before it's even remotely done.

Don't watch the livestream then, wait for the actual video to come out.

Sorry, let me clarify: When I say livestream, I mean the livestreams MushroomFleet later puts on YouTube. I simply say Livestream to refer to the format they use to get their info out initially.

okay you don't have to make it official, just divulge the info and future plans to people who aren't memetic hazards (lol)

I think that, in a nutshell, is the problem. Calbiri is telling y'all and nobody else.

I agree. Maybe if MFs videos were edited down to cut out all the 'mad bantz' we'd get a more concise insight into planned features. Perhaps this is something that could be suggested to MF. The videos already seem to be edited to some extent, so maybe it could just be a little tighter.

Well, them and random people in chat. But this is information that should be out for all to see.

This, 100% The elitism in the higher-ups needs to stop, MushroomFleet needs to stop being Schine's social pet so much. Let the community know what the heck is going on. We deserve to know just as much as they do.

I like Tomino and co., they're cool people. I'd just rather have the news in a more compressed, pure format, not intermingled with randomness and tomfoolery. I don't understand why this is so unreasonable.
Why dont you make the videos yourself, then?

Please don't take this out on calbiri. He works on his own fields (and has a full time job). The things he told MF about the hyperdrive were already on the forum. Most of the new features in the dev build he knows after the testers.

I don't know what people are saying about feudalism tbh. This game/forum is not a political state.

We are already working on making cut down 30sec videos without voice and text as short updates for the official youtube channel.

Tom just stated that he aims for 6 minutes in this thread and on top of that I never recall watching a video of his that was over ten minutes. Someone literally said that they wanted to have a dev blog because watching a youtube video forces them to stop playing music. Are we seriously that lazy?

I have word from a fellow youtuber that they will be doing a tutorial series on starmade. Perhaps we can work with that and turn it into the unnoficial news episodes after.

Thing is, a lot can change before stuff goes to dev builds or stable. I bet schema wants to make sure hes got stuff right before posting it here. Look at the complaints on the thruster thread and you will see why the devs do not want to post things early. A lot of us just sat there and complained, saying that they knew how to fix the games problems. A lot of us want to get our ideas in the game because schema is willing to read our suggestions. Well he can't do that. It's too much. We all need to take a step back and realize that we are actually not developing the game, but responding to the work done by others.

You should still make some YouTube videos, instead of complaining. May be a little more productive.
Why don't you? See, I can make inane comebacks too.

It looks like you missed the entire point of the thread. Go back through and read every post.
