I have finally gathered up the motivation to continue the SCF Turing Battlecruiser project! While the entirety of logic and interior work is going to stay, I have scrapped the entire outer hull design and began reworking it. This was a necessary step to get a clear vision for this project again.

I will gradually show teasers of the restructuring process. Today, I shall start with this - part of the back section of the cruiser. It is not yet in detailing phase. The existing CbE-800 long range turret model has been attached to the first (of several planned) medium hardpoints, while the new point defense turret is featured in an array of five below.

The hull rework will have a substantially more angular, industrial design than the original concept. This is intended; below you can see the current state of the hull around the hangar door you already know.

Progress is made. Exterior status quo:

(Accelerated) GIF of the decontamination airlock you need to pass when accessing the ship from the hangar. It contains two anti-astronaut turrets that have enough time to kill you several times if you don't belong here :)

that airlock is super creative, nice work! You should have the turrets hidden until the doors lock shut, then enemies get even more surprised, otherwise the turrets might shoot before anyone even enters. Super inspirational!

Go right ahead! Starmade is all about getting inspiration to kick off a creative process.

It would be cool to have a airlock that locks a player in and they have to type in a password or a green pulse kills them. Something for staff areas and such, in which you want only some faction ranks through.

Aaaand again a new project started while the old one is not finished. Size reasons! I need to build smaller given how I currently do not have that much time. Here is the very rough outline.

Design Intent: Maximally efficient frigate/destroyer with high RP value. Efficient means exactly hitting the regen softcap, so larger ships than this one would gradually drop in per-block battle efficiency. It will exclusively use cannons (vs blocks) and beams (vs shields) both on turrets and the comparatively very large weapon arrays (1200/1200/1200 CcPt and 1200/1200/1200 BbI main weapon arrays, two CbPt-1500 medium turrets, eight CbPt-220 small turrets). No missiles mean that cannonspam and point defense can be used to the max. This undecorated very early partially finished hull only shows the rough plans. This will likely get the name "Turing" rather than the previous project. The new SCF paradigm assigns names of pioneers of computer science and information technology to non-turret entities, given how much these are held in high esteem by the population on the homeworld of Snataris.

Interiors: Will this time be built with slabs in mind from the ground up! This for instance is the mess hall. I plan to offer large interior in comparison to ship mass. Interiors will combine military utility and recreational/ Star Trek style areas to provide a crew of 8 with everything they need (players and/or NPCs).

Door module: Uses wireless logic to have a working button on the door itself. The entire module can be docked as-is, so only one conjoined entity must be docked per desired door, and the wireless connection is already pre-placed, not involving the mothership in any way (all logic is within the dockable door module itself). Doors requiring a buttonpush to open generates a bit of interactivity.

Time for some R&D. My goal was to make the smallest possible enemy detector, to be able to field multiple of these even on small ships. It uses a back-and-forth moving rail based sensor head and a turret. Once the detector triggers, the signal will persist until you reset all turrets via the ship menu (and if there are still hostiles present, it will immediately trigger again).

aaaah m8 you just fixed my last problem, I've got a scanner that can scan the direction of people again and again, like a radar.
problem was, collision and unloading the sector would fuck it up, now I never thought of resetting all turrets using the ship menu.
now all you have to do to start the scanner it hit a button and reset and it will go on until you unload the sector/push the button!
thank you! I had dropped the project after that problem, saying fk starmade with its collision but now, I'll release it ASAP. await my link....

Newly decorated turrets - as well as a partial sneak peek of a shape concept for a ship (yes again).

This will be an assault destroyer concept, extremely thick frontal armor (up to 5 layers of advanced or more). The ship is in shape concept phase (no details yet).

This is the new decoration state of the medium and small cannon turret:

And here we have the plasma launchers (vertical launch missile/beam/punch):

Then I agree with Top 4ce :p (on the rest of the ship that is, not the front half, I think that one is decently covered hrhr)

(gif, let it load) Damage state display! Fits on the bridge, has 13 distinct sectors. Blue means OK, red means at least one of the sensor activation modules has been destroyed.

Btw this is the view from the core, so if you switch from camera to core / your camera gets destroyed, you will immediately see where the damage is, and it includes a holo-ed shield display.
