Name: Paladin
Class: Frigate
Role: Solo/Fleet Combat, Station Defense/Attack, Anti-fighter/Gunship Combat/ support, Capital Ship support, light Captial ship, Escort, AMS
Description:
Initially designed before any concrete corvette designs and after the completion of the Gunships in the Valor series, the Paladin SLD-F M8 (Shielded Light Defender Frigate) or simply the Paladin Class Frigate, is a frigate designed with an emphasis on speed, shield tanking, and engaging ships at multiple ranges.
While it may not sport as many missiles or turrets as the legendary Arbalest class frigate, it makes up for it with unique design as well as implementing a unique Shield amplification Matrix that makes it nearly invincible to LAC's (light attack craft or fighters, simply put) that sport conventional rapid-fire weaponry.
Much like the armored warriors of ancient times, the Paladin's defenses are not so easily breached. with four AMS turrets along its massive thruster 'rings', this allows the Paladin to assist in any point defense efforts whilst unleashing its own salvo of weaponry.
Its weaponry is largely consisted of Mixed rapid-fire guns, rail guns and slight artillery, allowing the guns to engage at ranges that, while not consistent, are varied enough to force any enemy to keep it's distance.
Its shining primary weapon is the Forward laser as well as two Daul-barreled light-medium laser turrets, allowing this ship to deliver instant damage over vast distances.
Amplifying t's direct ship to ship combat abilities, however, is the series of long-distance rail guns mounted to the ship it's, enabling the paladin to deliver devastating kinetic rounds on slow moving or heavily armored targets.
And topping it all off is the 2 broadside missile launchers (one on the left and right each) which are only further amplified by its two vertical missile turrets.
its only notable tradeoffs are that its ship mounted missiles lack the extended range of most ship-built missile launchers, leading its turrets to compensate, and that it sadly has no broadside cameras/sensors as standard issue. it's light armor also means it leans heavily into its shields, despite its slight kinetic resistance.
However, this should not dissuade any who might fancy giving the Paladin a spin, as it's forward striking profile can make for an excellent Vanguard or assault Ship. It's sup-light Speed alone, as well it's tier 3 FTL drive, allow for much desired mobility in comparison to most frigates.
Iconic, powerful and versatile, the Paladin is always a welcome sight to any who find themselves in need of a formidable defender, escort or attack ship to lead the way.
