So I'm still grappling with the changes made to the game, but wanted to start pressing my limits on building and balancing large-scale basic systems to make a bit of a fighting ship for me to cruise around in. No chambers, no resistances.
At this stage it is of course also unarmed and though the interior is a bit cluttered with the fighter bays as well as the massive shield and stabilizer stacks, it still has lots of room for a more experienced builder to place systems, even interior if you wish, etc..
Or you could just throw some weapons and chambers on it, slap it on the nacelles and send it on it's way to automated picket duty.
The thrust/mass ratio is 1.5, so it's not the fastest thing you ever flew, but it's not exactly tortuously slow either. It's got lots of armor to lug.
It's still tough for me to judge, but I stacked in shields until I liked the numbers vs the power drain. lol
There is only one large power reactor, centrally located, armored and stabilized (albeit unequally) on all six sides, pumping out 480,000 e/sec.
There is a walking route from the hanger bays to the engine room, then through the upper and lower nacelles, then back into the primary ship-space for later interior building.
Two smallish landing bays on the port and starboard aft sides can hold subsidiary craft of non-trivial size.
Hopefully someone will enjoy tinkering with it as I have.
