Hyena
The debut vessel of a series of ships known commonly as the "Animal" series, -a collection of designs smuggled from a defecting pirate to proper authorities who sued the titular alias- the Hyena mark 1 gunship, also known for simplicity as the Hyena, is an agile vessel, designed to be the ideal close combat gunship. Smugglers, recreational racers, mercenary pilots, and cargo runners also favor this ship for its ease of modification, speed and evasiveness. it is Optimal in packs or in the hands of skilled pilots against light vessels, as its front miniguns can easily tear through drones, unshielded fighters, and bulk freighters. It also sports a weak salvage array, ideal for miners and combat salvagers who want a ship that can fight back in asteroid belts or fresh conflict zones.
however, unlike the professional military ships such as the arbalest, bodkin, or any of it's cousin ships, it lacks a tier 3 FTL system, and sports no PDC turrets, meaning that it must either reorient it's front or side guns to acts as improvised pdcs, or needs a screen of support ships against dedicated missile platforms and ships.
another notable drawback is that it lacks a front view port, instead burying it's crew of 3 behind layers of armor, camera's and sensors. while maximizing the safety of it's tiny crew, it's admittedly not very astatically pleasing.
