It has been FAR too long since I posted new content!
Hey everyone! Markus_McCloud here! This time, instead of creating an original ship, I decided to replicate a ship from the amazing indie game, FTL: Faster Than Light!
You remember these guys, right?
The Auto Scout is probably the enemy you've crossed paths with the most in the game...
...and here it is recreated in Starmade! I know its load-out varies, but since it's a light craft, I decided to go with machine-guns for its armaments.
I based the front-view on the Kestrel Adventures depiction of it. Having that red mono-eye staring back at you is a little spooky...
Since we only get a top-down view of the ship in-game, we never know what the bottom truly looks like. I decided that spot would be the best place to put the rail docker. I also added decorative vents for easier atmospheric travel (and to break up the monotony of the hull).
Angled view. Though it's meant to be deployed as a drone, if you want to pilot it yourself, the core is behind the Mattise Crystal on the front.
Back view. I went with a red aesthetic for the engines as well. Would this count as engine porn? ...Nah, seems a little too simple for that, but I think it still looks pretty good.
In the original game, Auto Scouts can spawn with or without shields and with or without cloaking. Since no one wants an inferior ship, I gave it both. And since it's literally the name of its original game, I set up the FTL drive as well.
Sadly, there's no interior. I put it as an RP ship because I focused more on making it look like the original than making it combat-focused.
So what do you think? Pretty nice, right?
You find a Rebel automated scout floating near this beacon. Despite its pristine condition, it appears to be de-activated.
1. Attempt to download the ship's data stores.
2. Don't risk activating it, and just strip the ship for any useful scrap.
3. (Sensors) Remotely scan the ship.
4. (StarMade) Forget the data stores! I want the ship itself!
