Lore:
The Peace Corps for 300 years operated as a civil law enforcement authority that served the Terran colony expedition that departed Eden in the year 9715. During their journey across the expanse the Peace Corps Captains and crew were the only government the colonists knew for over a generation. According to the expedition charter, 1 year after the first colony was established in 9782, the colony voted for their first Minister and established their first civilian government with the expedition charter as their founding document. The Peace Corps members were both colonists themselves, as well as employed by the Peace Corps, and beholden to the chain of command. An agreement was signed between the first Minister and the Current Peace Corp Admiral Davees, that the Peace Corp's role was not to be a military branch of the colony, but an independent organization that would support the security of the colonial government. The peace Corps would fight no wars and would make no laws.

That agreement remained in effect until the year 9962, and was the reason for the Peace Corp's persistent neutrality in many major conflicts. When their only foes were ill equipped pirates and the occasional outlaw, they never had need for true battleships. However, with the War against the Vanguard looming, the peace Corps finally abandoned the agreement and designed their first real warship, the Dominion Class Battleship. The Dominion Class was first fielded in the year 9973, and quickly entered mass production. The Dominion Class was the primary weapon used to defeat the Vangaurd. Several hundred were built, and many of them were destroyed in combat. They were built under the naval doctrine of see first, hit first, leave first. They were built around massive energy beam weapons, focusing on high damage output, strong scanners and advanced FTL, while sacrificing shield strength and mobility.

After the Vanguard War The Dominion Class remained the backbone of the now very militaristic Peace Corps to this day. These ships saw combat in many conflicts since the Vanguard war and also were found extremely effective at finding and destroying private stations during the Peace Corp-Guild war between the years 10020-10031.
