This is a large ship I have been working on which I am currently calling Voracious. It is actually a severely scaled down version of another ship I was working on. I decided I should test the design on a smaller scale before I put too much more work into the big one because it\'s so massive that I would be wasting an unjustifiable amount of time on building it if it were not to work. The mouth on that larger ship opens at a 100 meter radius and peaks currently at a 300 meter radius. The Voracious is small enough to fit inside that more than 3 times. However, the Voracious is not exactly small.
The ship is 244 meters wide and tall, and is 328 meters in length. It has a mass of 100261.3 (1002613 blocks). It has a thrust of 346946.2, which unfortunately consumes power slightly more quickly than the ship can produce it (a rate of 2310359.6 e/sec). However, the ship has a maximum power capacity of 1580561445.1, so it takes a very long time for the ship to run out of power, and any loss can be avoided by simply letting inertia do some of the work (don\'t hold down the gas all the time). It has 3894252 shields, at a rate of 43672 shields per second. It has a 5.0 recovery rate. Total, it has 335372 shield blocks. The ship is capable of cloaking for approximately 15 seconds, and is capable of jamming radar for somewhere around 30.
All weapons systems aim into the mouth (as well as salvage cannons/astrotechnobeams). There are 25 salvage cannon groups which each harvest at a speed between 0.028 and 0.045. There are 4 astrotechnobeam groups with repair speeds of about 0.017. There are 8 \"dumb\" missile groups with damage 316.1, distance 119.8, reload 15.9, speed 3.4, and radius 21.9. There are 4 heatseeking missle groups and 16 bunker buster groups with the same statistics as the dumb groups.
The real star, though, is the AMC system. Every green pad you see lining the inside of the mouth in that first picture has an AMC cannon group behind it. There are also at least 13 in the back of the mouth (honestly... I\'m not sure how many there are. The weapons menu for the AMC cannons is too laggy to scroll through because there are so many, and I can\'t really count them manually because many are buried within other things). Each one of those Antimatter cannons (except for one) does at least 240 damage, is capable of traveling up to about 670 meters, reloads at a rate of about 175, and moves at a speed of about 40. If one were to multiply the average damage per cannon (240) by the approximate number of cannons (225), one would get 54000. That is the estimated damage inflicted to the target if every shot hits it (which usually happens). So, if the Voracious is facing you... well, your hull is going to look pretty beat up, to say the least. I\'ve tested the ship against most of the top-rated ships on the ships list here, and none of them broke through my shielding before I destroyed them (though, granted, I was fighting the AI :P). Even after one round from the cannon system, most ships had pretty scratched up hulls.
Here\'s a picture of the antimatter volley from inside the mouth.
You\'ve really got a problem if you end up inside the mouth... you\'ll get hit from all sides. However, that\'s not too likely to happen.
Also, I parked this inside the sun to see what would happen, and got bored after about half an hour. The hull is three layers thick, and there\'s a lot of other stuff between the outside and the core.
The ship is about 90% finished. Mostly there\'s just aesthetic stuff left to do (the fins). Other than that, it\'s done.
