-Nutters shooting stuff up
-Space tech is moving at a snails pace, one rocket blows up
-ISIS is still a thing. They have a police force now.

I think jumps should be nerfed a bit; that, along with bigger sector sizes, would help a lot.

Also, I hope the universe update brings more galaxy types. Or even entire areas where there are no galaxies.

There should be a 1-2 systems of interstellar space between each system.

But before that, impliment programmable blocks, sustained FTL drives, and randomize ore spawning within systems so one has one more ore than the other.
