Just to explain the server NPC import strategy, we are dealing with issues due to the NPC fleets leaving docked entities floating in space. Anything docked will be dumped in space. The reason we've been importing hulls and making them functional is that this is often faster than stripping and converting current ships. Currently none of the server's npc factions field any docked entities.
Once this bug is fixed, anything will work. However until then we plan to import basic yet accurate hulls, equip them without using turrets and let them fly. This may mean that they wont be wedged as well as some would like, however it is an effort to provide a wealth of content while remaining flexible for fixes to NPC fleets. As a bonus, never before seen hulls and exacting scale measurements are possible with the use of model imports.
Right now Star Wars and WH40k are being worked on. Obviously WH40k 1:1 scale isn't possible in StarMade with capitol ships, so we will work on a system for scaling them.
