So I here you got my first attempt again, but without faction module.

But that\'s not all. :D I built a second ship, this time it\'s a corvette for fast swarm attacks. You should not use it for fighting if you\'re alone with your crew. You just won\'t last long. The ship\'s shields are quite weak, so is the armor. The only good thing is that you have massive firepower for your quite small size of ~80m.

As I said before, you\'re best with some bigger ships. Your 4 turrets will help your fleet against enemy fighters and bombers, while you can support the fight by firing your main cannon. It acts like a sniper, you should not move while firing. Energy MIA. If that\'s not enough, just undock your Tremelo(TM) Fighter to clean the battlefield.

Give me some feedback this time

I\'m not inclined to give one-on-one feedback during the contest as it seems cheaterly and a way to stifle creativity. I find people do better overall when working on their own ideas.

Kith Soban Industries and Vecordean Fleetworks are proud to announce the Polywog. The Polywog is a Corvette designed to maximize it\'s fire power. It has two heavy turrets and sixteen light turrets. It also has a twin forward facing missle and antimatter cannon banks. Designed for long patrols it\'s insides are surprisingly roomy. Giving the crew more space than is typical on a corvette. Capt. Vaneel Soban Ret. headed the KSI team. He stated that the Polywog was not designed for aesthetics, but for Firepower and survivability.

Not long ago a yellowtanium-hulled junker was towed into the Firestorm Industries docks and parked sideways across all of our berths. There was no choice but to strip it down to it\'s component parts to free ourselves from it\'s eye-blinding presence. After disassembly and discarding all the denatured yellowtanium (and other varius unusable parts, which constituted most of the ships bulk), our stockpiles contained enough yellowtainum to build a large corvette hull from scratch.

And so we did! Behold the Angel-class heavy corvette Angel\'s Punishment

The Firestorm Industries Angel-class heavy corvette features our patented 6+2 keel-mounted primary battery design, high effeciancy primary engines for 3:1 thrust/mass ratrio, reduntand fore bridge, outrigger mounted ancilliary engines, small ship dock (includes cargo transfer pod), crew accomodations for extended deployment including full medbay with regeneration tanks. The armorments also include 5 strategically placed turret hardpoints and shielding equivalent to that of a ship a full size classification larger.

The crew quarters and docking space are built as modular zones that can be repurposed quickly and easily by any well equipped shipyard, or even by the intrepid Do-It-Yourself smuggler with more free time than good sense.

After refitting and tuning the primary drives, the overall length stretched to 80m, a little long for a corvette but our design team deferred to the engineers and decided against risking catastrophic engine failure by hacking a few meters off the drives.

Fun fact: If you go a bit over 75 m, but have a solid design, I won\'t mind much.

Despite the bold claims of some of our contestants, no winner has been chosen yet, so do not despair! There\'s more than a week yet to go!

Given the number of quality entries, I may end up selecting more than one and adapting them to different roles, so consider that!

To that end, I\'ll give a list of roles a corvette-sized hull can be used to help fuel your creative juices:

    POTENTIAL ROLES

Picket/Escort: This is a ship designed to defend other ships. For a corvette, this means multiple small turrets. Accelleration isn\'t as high a priority.

Assault/Fleet: A fleet ship is designed to engage ships of its class or bigger and operate with other fleet ships. For a corvette, this means an emphasis on total foreward firepower, hitting hard and getting out. Perhaps it is built around a heavy gun or missile system. Accelleration keeps you alive.

Patrol: A Patrol ship is designed to operate alone for long periods of time and deal with a lot of different kinds of potential threats. A well-rounded set of weapons and extra crew space are requirements. Being able to run from trouble is important for a corvette-class patrol ship.

Support Ship: While I\'ve not decided to build any of my own, there\'s room for corvette-sized military cargo and troop transports. Something that has this role is mostly about internal space with only a couple of turrets for defense and basic armor.

Ground Assault Ship: Underside turrets for bombarding restless natives, and room inside to deploy a bunch of troops in a hurry. Maybe a vehicle or two. This is a ship designed to land and provide fire support for ground troops.

Hope that helps, folks! Keep up the good work!

After looking over the Dirge frigates that we definetly DO NOT use for target practice, our designers at Triple Diamond Industrial shipyards have developed a rather frankenstien patrol corvette featuring a combination of TDIS and VFW design features. We have no idea what to call it, but we figure you good folks over at Vecordean can figure it out if you deem the design worthy.

As you can see, our entry uses a front-heavy VFW-style design and a pair of interlocked FTD units connected by a rather spacious interior for a 75 meter long vessel. Quad VFW point defense turrets provide adequete defense against fighters, while five forward facing AMCs comprise the vessel\'s primary firepower. Stub wings typical of TDIS Carcharadon series corvettes provide additional firepower and thrust without taking up valuable interior space, and a dorsal-fin style bridge adds extra armor in the form of additional wedges.

Here is a showcase of the interlocked Fan Tail Drive sections that provide serious acceleration to get in and out of rough situations

The corvette features TDIS standard bunks and storage space, allowing the crew to live in relative comfort on long patrols. It even comes equipped with both earth-type and alien foliage; we at TDIS strive to accomodate various species in our ship design (except Maritans, buck those guys).

DO NOT TOUGH THE GLOWY THING! Seriously, you will die an excrutiatingly painful death.

We were originally going to use a more Dirge-esque interior design, but our surveyor got lost inside the frigate and is now considered M.I.A.

We at TDIS very much appreciate the opportunity to submit a design for consideration by VFW. After designing this vessel our engineers feel much more confident moving forwards in manufacturing our own ships, particuarly ones with suitable interiors.

Good work! I\'d definitely call this a successful merging of styles.

I see you\'ve dug up one of the ancient photographs of our company founder\'s ancient ancestor Johann Von Vecordeanfleetworks. Fun historical-seeming fact-like statement: Vecordeanfleetworks is an ancient hamlet located in the of the Palatinate of the Rhine. The low resolution cameras on their pig-iron and leather cellular phones make everything look like it was made of enormous blocks, not at all like what we see today.

This may be just some dust on the camera lens, but it looks quite a bit like distant stars are visible through portions of your hull. Are you perhaps testing a new, less-effective cloaking system?

That is most definetly dust on the camera lens. The employees responsible for lens cleaning have been re-assigned to manual labor in the bowels of our primary manufactorum.

In addition, the engineers responisble for this vessel have been put on unpaid leave for not thinking of giving this ship a cloaking system. Perhaps we will try and test something like this in the future with one of our Makos or Bulls. I had actually forgotten there was cloaking in this game; thanks for reminding me! (it\'s still the engineer\'s fault)

First off thank God I asved the blue print of just the shell so i can fix my errors but thought I would share my work so far... This is the first ship that looks less like a shoe box I have made :)

so here is the shell of it...

no weapons fully custumizable has a fan drive in the tail and 2 AMC turrets one long range single cannon in the middle and one short range 13 cannons on the rear

    length 75m, height 21m, width 16m
    mass 621.9, thrust 1566.6, shields 1392 s/sec, power 2800.4 e/sec

the haul has 2 floors with lots of room

all I can say is it\'s hard to find good help caught the workers huffing paint so I fired them before they started on the weapons system!!!

    Download shell : VFW_Contest_Corvett_01_Stalker_Shell.sment

ok so I replaced my workers with robots and look at the mess they made....

A weapons system ment for a much larger ship which the fan drive could not support.

Instead of making the fan drive bigger they lined the hauls with powerand shield moduals thank God I had a laser gun I was able to junk the robots before they filled the ship completely but what a mess!!! I left the 2 massive turrets on it also

    Length 75m, height 21m, width 16m
    mass 978.5, Blocks 9,785
    thrust 1,566.6
    power 343,107.6 e/sec
    shields 98,352.0 (3,089 s/sec) blocks 1,346 Recovery 2.0

onboard weapons 3 very long range, rapid-fire antimatter cannons : 2 cannons do 612.4 each and 1 cannon does 545.5

    download ship : VFW_Contest_Corvett_01_Stalker

I uncovered the 3 onboard AMCs and the cockpit so they can be located just cover the AMC\'s with wedges and the cockpit with a square block black is what I use to cover them the nose has alot of armor on it even the glass is crazy thick....

on the plus side though I am learning alot this is what my ships look like so far.... can you say shoe boxes?

I am going to be reworking the ship since i still have the blueprint of the shell of the ship I will get all shields and power moduals into the fan drive where they belong... I saw from other ppls submitions that the fan drive can be wider than the example i thought it could just be expanded with length and height only so i made a 13x13x3 (not including the fan sides so 13x13x5 with the housing.

please stay tuned I will post an updated ship in the next few days all I need to know is if you like the over all dimentions and stats or not cheers I see alot of very cool ships being entered good job everyone, I\'m just a noob lol only 3 weeks playing
