Tip: use a tiny (3 block) ship to fly through the wormholes. That way (when you're repeatedly unable to prevent being sucked back into the wormhole you just exited) you can delete your ship's core to stop your galactic tour.
Or, you know, you could just press R.

more gravity tweaks coming, hopefully. Planets, now worm/black holes.

Apparently, the wormhole's gravity is OP. :D Guess it needs an adjustment.

I have to say that I'm extremely impressed at the direction the universe update is saying. @Calbiri , please poke schema for me and give him a cookie.

What's on the dev build is largely incomplete (the universe is mostly empty), but it is pretty cool. A dev build in its truest form. I do think this layout will be pretty good once they roll it out. I made it a point to see what happens if you go off the edge of the galaxy and it turns out that there is another galaxy (but it does not show up on the map yet). There's a huge empty void between the galaxies if you ever just want to get away from it all. I have the feeling this is just the beginning of the update too.
That reminds me of Minecraft, when people join a server, build a boat, and sail away across the (then massive) oceans to find a place where no one bothers you.

    I rather like it.

I've never been quite as stoked for an update as I am now... Baby Starmade is growing up!

Wormholes show up by default on the galactic map. Since Scanners are system wide, it would be hard to scout a wormhole without accidentally falling in.
Depends on the ship really. At the very least its not that hard to stop the ship instead of going against the gravity. Even if you are thrown through the WH it will place you near the edge of the other WH system.

Edit: also due to the current grid nature of the stars locations, from some angles, the majority of the back ground stars look like binary systems, this too made me feel at odds with realism.
In real life one star systems are fairly uncommon, binary star systems are far more common with the rest being made up by systems with three or more stars (becoming exponentially less common as the number of stars in a system increases)

For some reason planets seem to lag more than in the first dev builds. Why is that?

In another place someone said it was coming out tonight or today. Was there some quote they got from this? From reading this post it seems weeks off from being released from the dev version.

Weeks is a bit extreme. Not much longer than 1 - 1,5 weeks. Most of the features are in place. Only the new terrain needs to be added, and, mist importantly, lots of bugs need to be fixed.

But it's not coming out today or tomorrow, that's for sure.

Yeah... I find the new universe structure to be impressive, but I think it may be another two weeks or so before the update... Schema still has to add in all the new entity generation stuff and refine some existing Features, however... I'm confident that it'll be out soon enough. And the future is looking bright.

I might consider filing a bug report for the extreme lag in the latest dev build while loading planets. In the first dev build it was really, really fast and the lag was normal, but now my game freezes for more than a second sometimes.

That happened to me too, at least in singleplayer. In MP, I still get the amazing performance from the first few recent builds, though.

I for sure agree with you. I was not expecting for weeks but I asked around to get an idea on the progress this thread alone made it sound like it was not ready. But people in my one thread I have and even on Chat were all talking about it. I guess someone started a rumor haha.

I guess something went wrong with the multi-threading in the later dev builds. Because it's like I said, the first dev builds had planets loaded within seconds, with no noticeable lag (except for the normal constant frame drop). But now my fps drops to 3, the game freezes constantly and the only way to not make it lag is by not looking at the planet, flying away or landing on it. Neither of which you want to do when you feel like flying by.

Oh god if it's a threading issue good luck to them. That is one thing I will say is a pain in the butt debugging. Hopefully its something small they remember adjusting and changing and not take them to long to debug.

Considering what was happening to my CPU usage, that sounds about right... If so, then... as Kane said, let's hope it's not a large issue.
