I made a battleship with 36 turrets and tested it on a pirate station...... The station spawned about 50 pirates......
My PC was NOT happy with me.

I was an admin on a certain server, and I was trying to spawn a single pirate(custom faction) for a friend to fight using the /spawn_mobs command.. I mixed up the faction number and the spawn count.. the faction number was 10007.

    my first total wipe:
Now in my first game I made a pretty large mining ship/flying dock and docked my fighter/destroyer onto it with turrets shields ect. basically a battle miner. mind you this was my first ship and like 5 hours playtime total... So I got the brilliant idea to see what i can do with a pirate station, I disable it effectively, im met with great success, i de-turret and shred the pirate station with my fighter. Next I step out to explore its wreck and am generally enjoying myself, sure ill be perfectly safe in the now ruined and decaying station.

I'm thinking "woot great fun i gots me a station" as i wander around pirate station, then red bullets start flying through the station hull (mid you i was still inside)... so i hurry to see wtf is shooting at me and i see a whole pirate fleet bearing down on me, my mining ship, and the pirate station(which by this point turned neutral) and shooting at it with around 100 rounds/second fire rate.

i go NOPE and head back into the stations

needless to say i died a horrible death

I love testing out my builds-AI fleet vs AI fleet. What I often do is pit my newest capital ship against swarms (100+) of fighters.

So, as I often spawn mobs, I just have to alter the same command slightly. Of course, this horribly backfired when I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and accidently spawned over 100 Titan level warships.

My computer, to it's credit, is something of a Ferrari, however even it couldn't weather the resulting lag storm.

A friend of mine loaded the BP of the Arcadia Dark Shadow from Captain Harlock onto the sever to have a look around the ship and blow up a few pirates.

Unbeknownst to me, he forgot to set it so pirates couldn't spawn in it on their own. A few days later, I'm working on a social station and 4 of them roll up on me. Needless to say, that's one Daisy's Diner franchise that isn't going to open anytime soon.

When I was doing torpedo tests, I had readied my next design on its launcher. It was faced toward a target made of advanced hull and shield blocks under to simulate damage to a ship. Upon firing, It hit the target, then Due to collision, derped into a diff direction. The scary part was it was slowly spinning, and its push effect drive was propelling it in a large arc back in my direction. I also noticed that not all the warheads decided to detonate as I assumed they would. As the rouge torpedo orbited back, its spin slowly stopped, and it flew out into the depths of space. I was very glad it didn't hit me, or any of my other projects in the area. Needless to say I took more precautions when testing such weapons.

I was just starting in Starmade, and had a small mining rig with wimpy starter cannons. I wasn't really sure how to navigate, yet, so I just flew off in a random direction until I got close to a bunch of asteroids and a planet. I set up a small base inside an asteroid I hollowed out, the perfect camoflage for covert mining. Soon I was producing stuff with factories from what I had mined.

"Cool!" I said to myself, "a jump drive! Let's check this baby out!" I manufactured a jump drive and a couple of modules and installed them on my ship. Then I charged it up and *WHOOSH* hopped through space.

Only after the jump ended did I realize I wasn't sure what sector I had come from, and didn't have any waypoints or anything I could use to get back to my base. My resources, my cool little base, everything was lost, somewhere in the void of space.

"Aha!" I thought, "If I die I'll spawn back at my undeathinator!" One suicide later, I respawn at the server spawn sector, realizing that
    1. I'd never set the asteroid base undeathinator mas my spawn, and
    2. Now I'd lost both my base and my ship.
Not knowing anything else to do, I had to restart entirely from scratch.

Oh I did that too with AAlexandrosTGreat on Saturn. Anyone remember when the server went down for about a week? That was me....

Edit: Wait, it wasn't AAlex, it was MysticBlubber!!!

this is the story of how i learned about pirates being able to use catalog ships. i downloaded some 400k mass from the community (i forget which one) just to check it out. admin spawned it and messed around with it for awhile then went back to building my own stuff. an hour or so later i die. just like that, out of nowhere, just dead. i respawned and went back at it. again, dead out of nowhere, no warning, no explosions, no projectiles around me. third time when i get back i start looking around and i find like 5 of these 400k mass titans had spawned as pirates and i was being killed by their first shot every time. anyway, finding 5 pirate titans staring at you is a pretty big NOPE

This one happened quite a while back, when there were still the flat planets and on a multiplayer server.
I recently had finished my 400 m escort carrier and used up almost all of my money and resources to built it.
I had parked it under my factions home planet to load some of our fighters into it. While trying to dock the last fighter it happened...
Accidentially my fighters core was still outside the hangar bay door when i tried to dock to the last docking port and with that closed the door in the middle of the fighter.
This resulted in a bad lag, then "poof" the carrier was gone.
The fighter was still in its position under the planet, but the carrier had "stucked" away.
Panic risining over the loss of my carrier and many of my factions fighters i tried to find it looking at the nav menu.
Relief it was just over half a kilometer away. I marked it and i noticed the nav indicator above me and the distance closing.
Confusion... i started putting the pieces together ...closing... above me...
    Realization... !!!! PLANET!!!!!
As fast as i could i got my fighter above the planet to witness a rough recreation of the "Adama maneuver" from Galactica over New Caprica.
My carrier was in free fall towards the planet and there was nothing i could do.
When it crashed on the surface the lag was terrible. I jumped out of my fighter and rushed to the carrier to get it off the planet to stop the lag, well knowing what would come next.
An angry GM joined our TS Channel and demanded to know 'what the "insert not very child friendly term" we were doing'.
I explained the accident and that i was about to fix it. He said i had a minute or he would "fix" the issue, meaning deleting the carrier.
A minute is not much, not while trying to get to the core of a 400 m ship during horrendous monster lags, only to realize:
"My ship has not enough thrust to take off from a planet!!"
I began to try rolling it off the planet, which did just work in time.

While it still had an happy end it was quite a shock at the moment.
Important lesson learned planets and gravity are bad!

Another NOOOO!!!! moment would have been when i was working in single player and deleted my almost finished starbase while trying to delete pirates.
Always watch what you have selected before you delete...
My god... I had that happen with my turret boat before.... I remember rolling it off several planets when I got too close xD ahh the good ol days.

anyway, this thread is much of my nopes xD http://starmadedock.net/threads/a-day-in-the-starmade-life-of-me.20908/

My first download from the old community content section on the old site was the Silvana.. I was absolutely blown away by the ship and loved looking at it. After I spent some time checking it out, I went off to harvest materials(I didn't know any other admin commands really). After about an hour of building/mining, I then had the ship really blow me away as 7 of them were spawned as enemies.

My first encounter with Izanths back in the old days was the chase of a lifetime. They hunted me dwon for about 20 minutes, till I found one of those derilect stations.

My first thought: "Oh hey, I'll hide in there and the pirates will leave!"

    oh how I was wrong.

I sat inside one of the hangars, listening to the *Thud* sounds. I quickly realized something.

"there isn't anyone on this station.... is there...?"

two seconds later the benny hill theme was playing as about 20 izanths resumed their chase.

The one time you test the jump drive and end up right next to a star.... and then you don't realize it for a bit... things ended badly considering it was a mining ship

Was playing on my own private server with some friends. I was in my cruiser, with my friends flying a few sectors away from me, when my friend R, called out that his ship was being pulled as if by a black hole, and was exceeding the server limit of 75 to 500. I went wat. Then moments later, he died.

So i picked my friend up and got all my other buddies together, in which we tracked down the last ship entered cords R gave us. We wanted to RP so we didn't do any teleporting or jumping. I didn't even have my jump drive pooled... Large mistake.

My cruiser suddenly was pulled to the right, and the next thing I knew, I was being pulled at speeds around 500. Sectors were flying by in seconds while I attempted to make sense of the situation.

That's when I saw it. It was a black hole... And a star at the same time. No it was a star with black hole effects to it!

Despite the fact I pooled up my jump drive and I would jump out, the star had a gravitational field of a 50 sector radius! (We tested afterward)

My ship got pulled in, and then, my ship started to get the high temperature warnings. I broke RP after that. This wasn't legit gameplay, this was a freak glitch! So I admin sector tped us out...

Most recent update fixed that glitch. But while we played the old version, I can tell you, we didn't call that area of space the Dead Zone for no reason. If you didn't have a jump drive ready when you got caught in there... U were dead.

lol ouch although stars do need a little gravity at a few sectors out but a blackhole's gravity in a normal star? I think the game wanted to kill you. :)

hum.... I almost think having some kind of space feature like that might be interesting. AND is kinda how black holes work (as far as I know). while the current black holes we have, IMO are more like worm holes. Could be interesting to have both of those exist.

Didn't personally happen to me but on the server I play on Newtonian physics are enabled. While off to get a cup of tea my friend turned the Bobby-AI on on his titan in case someone happened across him. Apparently there was an enemy pirate somewhere nearby because his ship took off and even after it lost the pirate ship continued because for some reason it didn't know how to apply the brakes. Since it was traveling at full speed my friend was struggling to get back to his core as it would teleport him around the ship, and eventually he ended up outside it. The ship then came across a pirate station and unleashed its swarmers.

Moral of the story is don't name your ship Ghost, otherwise it'll become haunted :D
