All i have a blueprint of is the interior (aka the glowy part), so it would be quite an effort to get it back to the state shown in the pictureYou should turn the lights off and convert it into a derelict space station.

Oh right! Yeah, that might look a little *too* derelict. All i have a blueprint of is the interior (aka the glowy part), so it would be quite an effort to get it back to the state shown in the picture
The 116-Big Gun (or Little Gun if you plan on building bigger )Now I kinda need a propper name for it, it will probably include 116-(any number higher than one) + word, but I still need a naming pattern for the word component of the names of these white+teal ships
Nice idea, but doesn't really fit my idea for a naming pattern. However, when I come up with lore for these (I want to make these into a custom npc faction) this one will get the nickname Little Gun, eitheer because there's a bigger gun or as a jokeThe 116-Big Gun
The way I see it, there's two types of naming conventions you can use:Nice idea, but doesn't really fit my idea for a naming pattern. I suppose in that case you could have a mix. Use a more colourful name which is thematically similar to replace the ships role, so instead of being an Assault Frigate for short-range attack, it's a Samurai or Gladiator. Instead of an Artillery/Missile Destroyer it's an Archer or Grenadier. A fast ship is a Mongol or Dragoon instead of an Assault Corvette, etc.I'm trying to go for a mix.
The number part is the functional/descriptive part. It works as follows:
The first digit designates what the ships general role is:
- 1 stands for combat
- 2 stands for industrial (freighters, miners, etc.)
- 3 stands for civilian (shuttles etc.)
The next two digits show the length, multiply them by 10 and you get the rounded lenth of the ship
The number after the dash is for diferentiating ships within size segments (I don't know their specifics from my head, I've written them down somewhere). Size segments I intend to use are:
- Fighter sized ships
- Corvettes
- Frigates (Like the 116)
- Destroyers (Like the 125-1)
- Cruisers
- Battleships
I'm not sure how i'll implement those for non-combat vessels yet.
After all those numbers I want to put a word that sounds good, follows a pattern and ideally somewhat fits the role of the ship
A pattern I had in mind was to name them after words for people who fight without limitting myslef to a certain time period so names like Gladiator, Hussar, or whatever else comes to mind).
As an example, the 116 would be more likely to get a name like Archer and not something like the aformentioned Gladiator.
My guess? Turn off backgrounds in-game, take screenshot, stick in image editor of choice, turn black levels up to 100% (or whatever that function is called I forget). That way you'll get a nice ship silhouette to work withNice. How?
Late reply, I know, but you're referring to orthogonal view by "flat" :DI used the exported model, loaded it into Blender, changed the view so it's "flat" (not sure whether thatt's the right word) and took screenshots, then I drew the outline within paint.net and made slight adjustments to the scaling of the pictures so they fit the measurements of the ship. They would be colorized if I could be bothered to give textures to the model.
If I took a screenshot within StarMade it would look kinda odd at the extreme ends of the ship, unless there is a way to turn off perspective view within the game I don't know of.
I like how that cruiser idea looks, go for it!I haven't been playing that much starmade lately, but I have done a few things.
I've started a new frigate exterior
It's a bit further progressed than in this screenshot, but this is the most up to date screenshot I took.
I've also had an idea for a cruiser in this style (yes, I do like building in this style)
This sketch shows the cruiser design I came up with
To give you a rough idea of how close to the end result this is, here are a before completion and an after completion sketch of the 125-1
Oh, and a little fun thing to do for anybody who reads this: Guess what ship was my main inspiration for that cruiser design.
That stinks man, best of luck with the new computer and future builds, though! Cost-wise it might not be worth it, but you could see if there's a data recovery service that could salvage your data from the borked hard drive?Bad news: Due to my hard drive no longer working I'm currently not capable of playing starmade, therefor there will be a while without any progress/new builds. Even worse, this means, all my SP builds are lost, namely a load of fighters I never posted here (about 20), a bit of progress on the Dauntless interior and most important, the entire heavy cruiser. When I have a new PC (I'm replacing the entire PC because that thing needed to be replaced in the near future anyway, so I rather buy a new PC a bit sooner than intended and don't buy a new hard drive for only a few months of use) I'll build something in a similar style, not sure when exactly that will be, probably not until october. Also I maybe then will go for a larger build (battlecruiser or battleship) as this was originally intended to be.
...You are a genius. I should probably do that, too XDWhich reminds me... need to set up Google Drive to autobackup my blueprint folder
