When first going into Advanced Build Mode everything is working as usual. It doesn't take long however, before a ghost image of the previous block or previous orientation is left on the image of the current block. Notice in the screen shot this occurs in both the cube target indicator with Preview Block to Build set on and on the thumbnail in the GUI.

If I wait for a few seconds, the ghost eventually disappears. I have also notice if I switch through blocks rapidly, the ghost will change through these blocks after the few second lag time before disappearing.

As best as I can recall, this was introduced in v0.1421 and it hasn't been addressed in the latest dev build. Same results in single player and playing on my own server using a predictable state of the game.

I will send system and log information shortly after this post to AndyP.

This is a real annoying bug for me, as it makes it difficult to see block orientation as you can imagine.

    Just an update.

So I am running build 20140524_220051 and the problem persists but the ghost images seem to cycle more quickly, almost like a flickering. It's more distracting at this point then a hindrance.

    Totally correct,
would be damn cool if all having this bug,
can post a SMC-report and your video hardware in that issue.

As we could not reproduce it yet, it seems to affect a small set of chips only.

(Comments are added via signup and hitting edit)
Its also possible to post it here, I'll add them then

    Thanks,
wow, so far it looks like we can safely ignore:

Video hardware - Both totally different
    CPU - AMD / Intel

The only commons I see so far is:
    64bit Java, Win7

As this both also fits me, those cannot be the only factors.

DX11 seems to be common too, but I have that too... so.. hm
    Blind guess, Java-version?
    (cmd -> Java -version)

    Mine is:
    Code:
    java version "1.7.0_55"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_55-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.55-b03, mixed mode)
In case someone may switch to this, or just change installed version to another one, this may sort out java-version as possible cause.

    This is my Java version.

    Code:
    java version "1.7.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_10-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.6-b04, mixed mode)
Seems I'm a little behind, maybe I will see if I can update it and see what happens.

    Update:

Installed Java version 1.7.0_60 and no difference I'm afraid.

    Hm, okay,

docking face up: need to use the advanced controls arrows for this.

Okay, as java-version is not the cause, I remembered an old issue I got with my first multicore computer.
I had dungeon keeper II and running it on a multi-core CPU the graphics got strange artifacts and ghost images.

May someone with that issue try the following:
    Start the launcher,
Click start once (to open the single-player/multiplayer selection screen)

Then go to task manager (ctrl + alt + del).

    Select tab: Processes
    Select program: javaw
rightclick on it, and click on: affinity
    Unselect all cores except one.

click OK, and return to the launcher,
    now start the game.

Performance WILL be very bad, as star-made utilizes multicores very good, but in case the preview is fine then...
There is a point to investigate this. (Timing issues with GPU or something)

    Disregard my last post

    Schema said:
finally found and fixed that bug. This might have been responsible for crashes on Intel cards, as well as other wired graphical glitches (invisible ship in advanced build mode, e.g.)
    Source

Pushed the issue to resolved, as I do not get that bug myself, I need someone to confirm it being fixed in upcoming dev-build. (Next after: 02-Jun-2014 16:07 )

I would report back, but as of last night, I'm constantly getting "GLException: GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY". I had gone back to latest stable release, I had a red message on screen telling me to increase memory in launcher...I did, since then I get that error...stable release, dev release, default mem settings or increased...dont get it ???

It's a long and boring story, but the upshot is....it is indeed fixed :) Thank you schema, thank you Andy. Brilliant stuff.
