    Lecic Involve the community with builds? As cool as that would be, it could end in disaster. Everyone has their opinion as to the best ship. That's not the point of these vessels. They are here to be an example, serve a specific role, and to become an interactive part of the universe. Somehow someone will find an excuse to put missiles on a TG ship, even though we have already discussed that the TG prefers cannon weaponry. We will however be doing more contests where players can submit ships for random factions. The details of that have yet to come about however I want to get that going soon.
    I meant more for figuring out general lore.

    You will just have to wait till we start building those factions. Don't want to go back on my word later on. Pirates are leaning towards missiles though. Lots of missiles.

    All the more reason to teach players about PD before they start running into pirates.

    I think an AI (literally AI- they're robots or holographic AIs or something) faction that has no problem with using warhead kamikaze tactics would be cool.

    What would be the issue with TG ships having missiles, though? Just because they "prefer cannons" doesn't mean they can't have their big cannon boat mount one Missile/Cannon or something. I think the only problem would be if, for some reason, someone put beams on their TG ship submission.

    Yeah, preferring one weapon type over another doesn't exactly exclude the use of the others especially when it comes to missiles which more often than not fall in a "secondary weapon" category. Beams or Cannons are your primary and many people will choose one over the other but will often still slap missiles into their ships as well.

    I personally look it more from a "missiles are a weapon of war" standpoint so I often will not equip missiles on civilian ships. Missiles also need a greater amount of support resources in the form of capacitors so they won't be used on ships trying to save space.

    Nice ship! I'm glad to see that Star Made is getting a huge update done to it over the next few months. I feel that having this whole mission/NPCs thing gives more life in the universe, as well as it gives you a purpose. Last thing is I love how one person theoretically could make an entire fleet of ships by himself. For myself the fleet would consist of mostly NPCs that my 7 friends and I would command.

    That's implying pirates are absurdly numerous and would pretty much instantly pounce on an undefended ship. The fact that the team seems to think undefended freighters are fine strongly implies pirates are not going to be taking out thousands of freighters.
    ...But we ARE absurdly numerous and we like shooting missiles at stuff.

    Why do the TG or any NPC faction need to be the best of the best? Some here insist that these ships be "good". That is subjective. They do not need to be the best. It's not laziness. I have dozens of assets to work on. Trust me. We got plenty of work to do and I am not willing to skip on the details which we consider slightly more important than performance.

    Additionally someone brought up the council. The council is not really here to help the community build assets. Or get others involved in building assets. They are here to pass information and suggestions to us.

    What's more is that I already stated we can put a PD turret on this ship. You are all very persistent, even after I revealed that I am willing to balance out their systems after we see how well they perform. I can't say with certainty that this ship is well defended until we build the ships that would be attacking them. This is something that should be tested with a few AI's once they are built.

    I have revealed one ship and not shown any stats yet. For all you know we are decent at systems. Please be patient and if we really need help with the builds we will ask for it. Until then we don't see a reason to do that from the onset. We have plans for some contests and they will hopefully be more interesting and varied than the starter stations which I am excited for. Let's stop fussing over ship performance and focus on the visuals for now.

    There is when I made note before that I would cut down on repetitive comments. I acknowledged the suggestions but people continue to insist that I am not listening and therefore is somewhat frustrating having to explain again and again.

    I know you said you didn't want a lot of discussion on why / why not so and so should have PD or not, so i wont press this any further, but I think the main thing people are nagging about is; if the major pirate faction uses or prefers missiles..wouldn't it be cheaper to slap a tiny 1:1 basic hull PD turret on them instead of bothering with shields altogether? I agree with you that these ships do not have to be the best. IMO they shouldn't be. but it seems really odd for for them to not have any when, assuming here, they know the major pirate group is going to come at them with missile spam. If they were all using beams it wouldn't be any issue at all for me, but it feels like there's a logical gap (I dont know if thats the right word) here. If you want to preserve their low-tierness, I would simply suggest an alternative and give them very, very low shielding( or none at all) in exchange for a PD turret.

    Alright I've been reading over the thread. There's quite a bit of speculation over systems and weapons and merits of one system over another when Criss hasn't really stated specifics, only thoughts regarding the lore/RP aspect of it.

    There's a lot of things to consider, and it's hard when none of the pirates have been built yet. Why would "pirates" go hard at a freighter with the aim to destroy it when that'll just destroy the cargo they're trying to get? Also, while "pirates" are the obvious enemy to the TG at the moment, they're not the only thing out there that might be dangerous to them. Other faction, stellar anomalies etc can all be a detriment to the TG, as well as the "pirates". So while a PD rather than shields might be a fair trade off when focusing on just the conflict between these two factions in the current game, what it will look like in the future could be much different with factors no one has even considered yet.


    Let's keep it civil, it's literally the first ship with just a view of aesthetics and some lore to go along with it. Just be excited that it's not going to be Isanths forever and ever.

    I would simply suggest an alternative and give them very, very low shielding( or none at all) in exchange for a PD turret.
    The freighter currently has abysmal shielding. In order for thrusters, power and the JD to come close to optimal most of the space was used for them. A PD turret can go on. That is totally fine. I didn't put it in the picture because I think it looked better without the turrets on. We already determined that the TG would have plenty of PD on their combat oriented ships which will be present as escorts. Still, the missile faring Scavengers need to be capable of wining some of the time and thus it should be an even match when the two groups come face to face.

    It would be nice to see variations where cargo space is sacrificed for more systems or trade systems for others to give a bit of variation. That still needs to be discussed as we wouldn't want tons of file space to consist of sment files. We already have plenty of things to create. That would compound the problem. The more variation the better though so I hope that comes through.

    Love the ship Criss, looks great, and nobody should be giving two shits about three shits regarding what systems are on board at this point. IMHO, nuke this entire thread and start a new one.

    Is there a common style guide you’re working on for the factions? Of course lore wise you already stated certain preferences for technology.
    But I’m talking actual build styles and colours.

    Bleu for TG seems almost obvious.

    Lots of criebel? Or less?
    Do they use a lot of communications equipment? (That satellite dish)
