The purpose of warp gates is immediate travel with no charge time over a much longer distance. Building a non-drone combat ship without a JD is like building a shuttle without thrusters.

Does this mean AI are going to be using warp gates, though?
    well,imagine it like this.
Only the 3 main factions (Trade guild,Scavs, and a yet to be announced one) will be everywhere in the universe, with the jumpdrives, top of the line weapons, etc.
But the minor factions (the ones we players will create ships for) will be local maybe, underdeveloped somewhere, advanced elsewhere.
So its only logical some might not have JD yet

I mean, I guess that makes sense? But on the otherhand, it'd seriously break my immersion if there was a minor faction that didn't have JDs, despite their systems having a bunch of TG shops and battles involving larger factions that do have JDs to clean up afterwards.

I love the slab indents on the top, but on the sides they look a bit too much like letters, a color change (other than grey) would probably help.

Ismthe camera part the front or the back?
It isn´t final yet and also the colors might change. The ships should not be perfect, they should be build with the same style and an idea in mind. Just to name a few properties this fleet will probably have: a lot symetry, a lot of rounded surfaces, very clean design (outside and inside), nothing too industrial, heavy shielding, beam weapons, relaxation pods instead of beds, replicator like kitchen. But we should stop highjacking this thread.

Different factions can have a different technology, I don´t see any problem with the immersion. Maybe the factions don´t want to share their knowledge. Also jump drives don´t have to be on every ship. A jump drive of a faction can require a certain ship size to install or it isn´t profitable on every small short range ship. There´s a lot of things that can be considered how the factions equip their ships. There can also be some experimental ships which have uncommon systems. I would really like if theres some kind of warp network between some bigger stations (not every big station) or on trading routes with a lot of traffic.

This logic doesn't really make sense to me. All factions are using the same tier of technology, are they not? And if it's extremely affordable for player factions to outfit even their shuttles with a small JD, why isn't it affordable for THESE factions?

Now, on the otherhand, I think it might be kind of cool if there was a faction (the Outcasts, perhaps?) that the TG is opposed to (but not at war with) that has a lack of JD mats in their systems, making importing the only way for them to get JDs for their larger ships, preventing their larger ships from having them. This would give the player chances for smuggling missions, sneaking a cargohold full of JDs past a TG blockade to sell to the Outcasts.

well,we can debate all we want, its not like Devs are forcing us to do anything.
Its up to players really,if someone submits ships without jumpdrives (and one of my factions wont have them) there is nothing we can do to stop implementing it. But to be fair again, cmon hahaha there will probably be 30+ minor factions with 3-6 ships each, one or two without jump drives,i think that is fair

    Jumpdrive Computer: 12,000 credits
    Jumpdrive Module: 1,200 credits
    Total cost: 13,200 credits

Entire Ship: Hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of credits

Jumpdrive: Capable of preventing violent destruction of a ship

Realistically, any faction that's capable of getting their hands on something like that should have it, on account of it being a major benefit for extremely little relative cost.

Maybe it would be factions that have 1 block jump drives, to represent they are really deficient in its capabilities and/or someone scammed them (trading guild lol) for a lot of credits on a piece of equipment that "would open the universe to them" so they paid a lot and got the bare minimum lol.

Maybe the balancing of prices should change to make jumpdrives more scarce?

Also I have a 300 mass ship skinned with basic hull and it still is over 1 million credits.

Maybe have a TG style module in the back of the space ships representing the buying of the technology and basically slapping it on the hull. Or use externally mounted jump sleds like in star wars.

Y'know, that could be an interesting idea.

Saber and you are doing an amazing job Criss .

When this thread appeared I was saddened because I thought it was the end of contests so I'm glad to hear there will be contests in the ( near?) future. To bad you don't have scavenger or outcast ship to showcase. It would be a great help to design ships for these factions.

Hello! I have much to show in the new peak of asset creation and updates. Today we take a look at the new and improved Trade Hub Station. This station is used by the Trading Guild to accommodate the needs of potential buyers from new civilizations. As such this is a notably rarer station to come across in space. With it comes various services such as medical care, offices, banks, and cargo storage.
The latest updates to the station include a complete overhaul of all floors, hangars and cargo areas. New rail elevators have been installed as well. Overall I think the station has been much improved since it's initial design. More tidbits of information can be found in the full album in the original post.

Sounds like a great way to prank your guests, just teleport their cheeseburger into space just on the other side of the window.

You guys are thinking cheeseburgers on top of the table, I'm thinking strippers on top of the table.

To each his own, I suppose.

I thought it looked like it was to be a hologram screen like in the star wars.

Space Pandemonium? Void Shock? A hint at things to come? Or just flavor text/lore?
Anyway, I would think they cared about Sticker Shock more. :p

    Looking good.

In the first pic, is that cargo ship a permanent part of the station (construction wise) or is it just making a delivery (docked)?
