30fps is not the limit, that's a myth. It's only true in case of something flickering, where you can't notice things flickering beyond x amount of hertz (ex: a light). There's a definite difference with things in motion on a screen though. I have a 144hz monitor on my desktop, and fast moving things are noticeably less blurry than on a 60hz monitor (assuming I get 144fps). I get nausea under 30-40fps (and with lots of stutter).
I don't have a gaming laptop, it's just a high-end laptop with a gtx960m and i7-6700hq in it (had I bought a "gaming" laptop it would've had a 970m at least).
Anyways, I reduced my draw distance and am getting 50-60fps now with enough of the ship loaded in to be able to work on it. For reference, on my "gaming" desktop I get 80fps with the whole ship loaded in, and that's with a 2560×1440 monitor (I play the game in 1920×1080 on my latop).
