You may need to assign more memory to the game then.
As our ships are fairly large and the vertex amount is quite high, it will most likely demand a lot of memory to export.

I got 16 GB allocated to starmade, the problem was i had moving parts on my ship. As soon i switched them off i could export wothout a hinch.
