Umm... I'd get a mid-range dedicated GPU and an SSD as well as that RAM, unless you're on a 32bit system. CPU shouldn't be too much of an issue as long as its less than 5 years old. The planet lag isn't going away any time soon though no matter what (short of a crazy RAID0 setup with dual GPUs...

      Change FTL mechanics

That would be nice, like an autopilot thing that lets you walk around and do the things you need to do on a starship (once said tasks get implemented: a finished crafting system, prep shipments of contraband, maybe some improvements to your design...) Even if you don't have those things to do...

      Change FTL mechanics

Sorry for the late reply... life happens When I said long spin up I mean having to wait 60 seconds+ to charge up the drive and start moving. People are suggesting 2 minutes which really defeats the purpose of FTL IMO. A configurable period in FTL would be good for immersion, a time where the...

      Change FTL mechanics

Off Topic (ish) Why does distance matter? If you go 1km or 1000km you're still in space. I like the idea of massive voids. On Topic: What about a hyperspeed no-clip FTL? I'm for anything that doesn't have very long spin up periods where I can go and get a drink and still be in normal space...

      Mass-based turning system

Ok, I meant that it takes a certain amount of force to move a certain weight (mass) and was talking about calculating the mass that was being moved when you turn the ship one way; then you take that and compare it to the amount of energy going into rotating the ship. I'm not very literate in...

      Mass-based turning system

Makacodor explained my physics based system well, he posted a link on the first page. I like this system better but it just doesn't work as good as doing the actual math which wouldn't be too intensive unless the code was completely devoid of optimization. Edit: Malacodor

Brainstorm This Perfect turning system - no half-assed solution

Make a suggestions post before Schema implements the Mass-based turning system GO GO GO GO GO!!!! :D Thank you for explaining my idea before I got back on @Malacodor kudos to you

      Mass-based turning system

This looks ok but I don't think its a good solution. I think it should be based on the actual amount of mass being moved and use that to affect acceleration. That way the antenna's length doesn't matter at all, just the distance it is being moved and the mass. I'm not going to look up the...

New (Windows) Launcher Fails to Launch

Ok since I'm running windows 8 x64 just uninstall my 32bit java?Ok the browser thing is just for the automatic DL, go here (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) to manually pick an install. Now I'm wondering when I removed my 64 bit version

New (Windows) Launcher Fails to Launch

How can I get the game to run in 64 bit? I'm capped at 4gb ram and background programs use 3 of those for me.

      Power should EXPLODE!

Its not just that, its the fact that you need a ton of power to run good systems (I'm not even talking titans) basically you need 25% of your ship to be power gen/storage or more to keep it functional (I think that it should be a bit more than power/no power but that's another thread...) So...

Too many letters for one post I'm also working on a fix for the doors by adding longer delays before they close now that I'm not afraid of the logic in the attic :D but it appears the area sensors are buggy too. Perhaps have the area triggers on the other side close the door with a very long...

-Fix for your asteroid base- OK, I'd edit the review but that isn't an option. The problem applies to ALL up elevators .You had some area activators ON TOP of the plex door (the one that you "fall" through) when they should only be on the bottom, just remove the nine that connect to and it will...

StarMade 0.16 - Crafting and BattleMode

I guess the chart isn't meant for practical use, but at the resolution it was uploaded at the text is unreadable. This is an example of 4k or 8k resolutions being useful since you have to zoom in to read it, degrading image quality. (also the .jpg compression doesn't help, that tends to blend...

      CLOSED* CONTEST: Default Stations Submission

I just spent the last 3 days looking at this beautiful work, (as well as reading all of it and downloading the really exceptional ones) I wish that I was able to get online sooner and try to make a station for this. Just tell Skylord and Dalmont that their work is too good to enter in the...

      People with slow Computers

I'm running on a pre-built laptop ("desktop replacement") because I needed a bit of mobility. It runs Starmade fine, the only lag is when loading in at the start and the planet generation (I may note that I can't see the difference between 20FPS and 60FPS) Starmade runs at about 25FPS max...
