      A default ship, or better starting gear, I could get behind but I'm not sure that really solves the main issue. What I feel Starmade needs is a better "early" game altogether, ie giving the player stuff to do other than mine and craft and do a better job of easing players into the games intricacies.

      It's not just about loading screens. The biggest advantage we have now is we can interact with a planet from space, or vice versa. Instanced planets will go against that.

      Depending on how NPC control is handled it may not be a space issue. Likewise, depend on how its implemented Point Defense might be one the most useful places to put custom AI in, setting up blanket firing patterns etc.

      It was my understanding that Bobby AIs where going to be phased out almost entirely for NPCs, with customizable AI. However, that's not really been brought up for a while and is a fair way off, since that kind of thing is easier to implement when more of the games features are set in stone.

      Something I would like to see for planets is a way to mine them without strip mining. Something less server intensive, and possibly giving you more resources in the long term. Gives you a reason to build planet bases as well.

      I think the game could do with a way to mine planets without tearing them apart. I would suggest planetary mining bases or something similar, that extract ores and crystals whilst leaving the planet intact, stopping the game from having to render all those blocks being removed.

      I think keeping box dimensions for turn rate will still work, I just feel that the upper limit before you hit 1.0 should be increased, so 100-200 or so metre ships handle better than they do, but 500m or so ships are still as sluggish.
