Indeed a good idea. I had actually thought of a similar idea to make unimportant rail bits part of the master ship, removing them from the ship selection (arrow up/down) while giving the parent ship their various systems (allowing for cross entity master/slave weapons).

New hot fix finally fixes planet atmosphere range but whether or not the atmosphere shader is turned on ON or OFF I get this:

Also I may have found another glitch. Turret axis docks can't be changed into any other rail dock and vise versa. was this a balance change since you could do this in the dev builds?
Guys, i managed to DOUBLE bobby AI my turrets! I can get both the barrel and base firing at the same time!
But it looks pretty glitchy since the AI appears somewhat confused as how to attack but it works. wonder if this is a bug or a feature?
speaking of which, is there any plans to allow cross entity control over computers/weapon modules? moving parts on ships are awesome and all but right now I'm not in a hurry to put weapons on folding wings if I know i can't get cursor fire from them while piloting the parent ship.

seeing as the new rail system opens up so many new possibilities on average the amount of docked entities on ships will go up. after playing around a bit on the dev builds i've noticed that switching to docked entities in flight mode(arrow key up/down) does not discriminate against any docked...
because the solution is here, tangible, and already in the game. All we ask is that it be adapted to the new mass based mechanics. The community can still build universal docking collars. keeping core centered docking around wouldn't harm your experience one bit. You could only gain with it...
np oh and if you're wanting music playing in the background while you play might i suggest the awesome mod, Musicmade. you can put your own music in a playlist that starts every time you start up the game.
