Eh. It's the same mass class as the Apollyon, and there's not much space for fun tech. We COULD refit it again, but really, I'd feel better about just making a whole new ship for a different function.
I personally can make a ship that large in a couple days by planet mining, and failing that, mass asteroid mining. Most people tend to use ships that are 5-10 times that size for general usage, though.
As for the "just buy shield capacitors" thing, that only really works when you have reliable...
Guess now's as good a time as ever to start phasing the Aether out of our fleets. It was reasonably effective for the time, but at this point I think it's only good for clubbing serverside factions :P
I can see round planets with block distortion working well on an extremely large scale (10-20km+ radius planets), with very "thin" surfaces (comparatively), to minimize the visible distortion... but that would require extreme efficiency boosts in terms of rendering and physics efficiency.
Even...
He had 11 or so points (and clearly stated it on his profile) when he continually tried to piss off another member, and I think he got a single warning point for trolling or something. Because he had so many points already, that pushed him over the edge into a six month ban.
Some shenanigans he...
I think you'll find this to be a majority view amongst the remaining veterans, but here goes.
When I was new... I wanted to build shit.
And I did. For years. Waiting for things to DO with whatever I made. Things that generally don't absolutely require massive multiplayer servers.
I would say just the opposite. People were actively driven away from StarmadeDock by such conflict, and often ended up quitting the game permanently because of it. The game's slowed down and the faction scene has died down because the people who didn't leave have gotten very, very tired of the...
On the topic of Boarding.
Boarding is a legitimate strategy because it is extremely easy to counter. If you get boarded, then there are a few dozen ways to get rid of those pesky gnats. Internal damage pulses, beam hallways of death that you can turn off and on, antipersonnel turrets, ten meter...
Easy solutions here.
1: Transporters are extremely easily jammed or cannot function when the ship is under a certain power percentage, or something, thus requiring that if you have NPC crew it's a very good idea to have manually walkable access hallways to their stations, lest they be unable to...
If the tournament rules are not updated for a 120k block limit rather than a 12k mass limit, I will not be taking part, because I strongly protest the idea that the other contestants should be forced to downgrade to basic hull to have any realistic chance of success.
Asteroids don't respawn anymore last I checked, so you're wasting your time with trying to find Larimar asteroids. But yes, some systems simply don't have any of a given resource.
That only solves part of the problems. Beams are also incapable of harming a ship with even as little as two layers of standard armor, due to the impossibility of hitting the same spot multiple times against a moving target.
Cannons are awesome. Lasers suck.
Beams are basically worthless as a combat weapon, with the sole exception of high alpha ion beams, which might as well be melee weapons lately.
