      I expect we'll end up somewhere between X3: Albion Prelude and EVE. Less face to face PVP and more AI/RTS PVP, and a lot more peaceful interaction as well.

      Aye. I feel scanner recharge rates should be buffed by 5-10 seconds, and scanner ranges buffed so that one could track down someone using a normal jumpdrive, too. But yeah, scanning nearby objects - asterods, stations, shops, and NPC fleet locations - should be a thing.

      Grappling hooks don't save you if you're trying to board at 300m/s against a target that's trying not to get boarded. Doing something about the confirmation popups, however, will make it far less infuriating. +1

      NPC crews really should have some sort of food/supplies as an ongoing cost for buffing the ship. Player astronauts eating food could really just be an emergency heal system, with various foods each applying different minor buffs to the astronaut (which aren't applicable in ship to ship combat)...
