      Collision damage is broken, this is a known issue but it's been on the back burner for a while. That's why stuff shatters as soon as it touches something. (That's also why there's a warning in the config about it being bugged.)

      This has to do with data storage, and making physics simpler and less laggy. Moving the core is actually impossible - it's grid point (0,0,0), and moving it anywhere would actually imply translating the entire rest of the ship's blocks within the grid to represent the new apparent core...

In my experience, the effects of a small ship landing temporarily on a planet aren't nearly as catastrophic as some people believe, as long as the person doesn't just leave it sitting...
