Planned Uneven Resource Distribution and Density: Getting the Wheels Turning

Exactly, the loot from a ship like that would be epic... Imagine, an entire stellar region's worth of ore in one ship... You'd be rich instantly! (The only problem would be if they took all the stuff to their homebase... however, ideally there will be some way to 'siege' homebases or something...

Mining, Planet Resources & Mantle Extractors: Improving resource acquisition.

Eh, 1%-3% of their normal efficiency sounds good on paper, but in practice with a large enough salvager this could still be exploited to create a bunch of lag for trolling/griefing purposes. I think it's better to just disable it altogether. Farming is planned, and using farming resources to...

Thoughts on a Future Direction for Development

There don't need to be definite distinguishing borderlines, but there can be certain systems that become more and more necessary as your ships get larger. (And other systems that become less and less practical to have on your ship as it gets larger, too, but those already exist.)

Mining, Planet Resources & Mantle Extractors: Improving resource acquisition.

Currently, planets, from a gameplay perspective, are kind of silly. They're not much more than big, laggy asteroids - You mine them, get a massive pile of resources, and destroy them. Hence, I'm proposing a few changes: NERFS: Planets should only have two types of resources each, period. The...

Bug Asteroid don't respawn in v0.19361

So, instead of being able to 'exploit' a little bit and drag asteroids to our base (I never did this, personally, I usually just claim systems and mine on the spot, but still), we now are encouraged to mine planets and kill servers?

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

I'm not talking about cases where the coders don't have time to get something into an update... From what I've heard, the mines weren't even planned out which is why they didn't make it into the release. I'm not saying not to talk about things until they're finished, I'm saying not to talk about...

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

Yes, but in the end Schine only has three coders, and only one (Schema) really knows his engine for the time being, as far as I know.

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

So? I'm not really a PvPer, and I get ships partially wrecked sometimes, combat and ship damage, whether PvP or PvE (or just running into a sun), is a base game mechanic and having to completely take apart and respawn a ship (Or go through the massive pain of manually repairing) just because it...

Systems, the Void, and clutter: More space in space, and more danger in the void.

This all sounds good, but negative-mass blocks would create a slippery slope... If you got a large enough ship to routinely kill these things and get negative mass blocks, the eventual result would be that people could create titans that can move like fighters because their heaviness is negated...

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

Things like planet mining wouldn't be "the same bugs with each update," seeing as a good fix to this just wouldn't break the same way again. (Of course, like anything in a large interconnected program, it has potential to break somehow, but the initial problem wouldn't have to be fixed again.)...

Systems, the Void, and clutter: More space in space, and more danger in the void.

Currently, in any given system, in addition to the planets and asteroid belts, there tend to be a whole bunch of stations, mostly abandoned. Void systems, counter-intuitively enough, have even more stations, and not much else. The massive amount of stations in a single system ruins the novelty...

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

Yeah, I almost agree... almost. Problem is, last time the updates were slowed down we got the equivalent of a bunch of these same sorts of updates mashed together every six months or so... If anything the current development schedule is probably best. The problem lies somewhere in Schine's...

      Bigger beams/shots/missiles.

Well, then cap size based on damage, I guess. A projectile doing only one damage could only be the default one block wide, a projectile doing 100 damage could be a maximum of 5 blocks wide, ...

      Bigger beams/shots/missiles.

But if it's 100x100 and small it's going to basically do zero damage per block... Besides, one way or another damage/array size and projectile/output size should be independantly controllable.

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

Not fixing things that will just break again a few updates later is one thing, but leaving a trail of broken, unfinished, and/or lackluster features behind is another...

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

PS game testing was a closed testing cycle, was it not? The game was treated as in-development, and not released - this is the equivalent of StarMade's dev builds, as far as I'm concerned. Yes, the entire game is in 'alpha,' but as far as I'm concerned a game that's open to the public, with...

fix the beams and quit screwing with feature additions

One problem with this argument: You can't get accurate feedback out of half-baked features, you just get whining and you give the community a general impression that you don't know what you're doing or that you just don't care. The majority of this community is willing to look past that and just...

      StarMade Mandatory Ship Aesthetics

It doesn't mean we should necessarily help it along... StarMade should just get its modding API (Including the system for downloading mods when you connect to a modded server, just like it downloads custom blocks and BlockConfigs now) and otherwise just do whatever the majority of the community...

      Two way docking

There's a "magnetic docking" system that will make this work automatically, but in the meantime I wonder why we can't have rail dockers be able to dock to each other, or fire their beam with logic?
