      The engine would need modification then... It would have to work approximately in a similar way to wireless logic. The button, for the purposes of logic, would count as its own entity/thing, and would link to any logic block as long as it's on the same ship that the button's parent block is on...

      Nah, credits wouldn't go anywhere... They'd stop being the end-all-be-all, but hiring crew, repairing ship armour HP at a shop, etc. still eats credits.

      You said something about copying code and logic integration and defensive effects, which was in turn in response to my saying that chairs would mostly reuse existing tech. Sorry if you misunderstood that bit, it was a bit of a jumbled mess. Not without pointless creatures getting stuck places...

But there's the whole issue of procedural creature generation, making it look decent, making the walk speed and leg movement...

      Derpy whale just derps and is vaguely atmospheric, bed adds a legitimate reason to have a crew quarters room and, more importantly, is a way to save your position inside a ship while offline while preventing nooby kiddies from hitching a ride to your base by sitting on the outside of your ship...

      Well, sure, pirate ships, other NPC ships, stations and planets... But for that to be relevant on ships and stations stations we would need meaningful boarding mechanics rather than just "nuke it from 10 klicks" anyway. As for space whales and other cosmozoans, the occasional space whale...

I really, really want different resource distribution, more tactically-valuable points in space, and more things to do with faction points, but since the devs seem to be focusing on ships right now, why not get all of those mechanics hammered out first?       Eventually I'd like to see a ton of things (Viewscreens, fancy shelves, maybe some generic techy-looking elements, 3D models for the various capsule and rod light items...) but for now, I feel that all we need are a few basic 3D-modeled elements and a few basic new mechanics to go with them...
