      I still don't quite see why microblock furniture can't be done. Just save it as a separate subfile. But I can see the issue with large-scale things, yeah.

      The game currently handles each block shape and color as a completely separate type of block, because blocks don't hold enough data to define their own shape/color internally (Holding that much data would make the game really laggy if you want to build things larger than corvettes and frigates)...

      ...So they just load the data as they go, which is basically the way StarMade does sector changes, too. It'd essentially just be a new type of sector that acts differently. Difference with StarMade, I think, is that all the data wouldn't have to transfer at once if the atmosphere zone was large...

      Might be a little expensive performance-wise, but you can always just check for block destruction near the path nodes or something. Break enough - or break the duty station block - and the path dematerializes.

      They can be way bigger with optimization. Schema mentioned that LoD for planets is coming soon, which should cut down on the rendering lag. However the physics load does all kinds of terrible things to servers (and that will not change due to LoD being implemented) so Schema will need to use...

      Not really possible for engine reasons. Each block, even if it only took up 1/64th of a block space and was a tiny teeny little cube, still takes up its space in the grid. You can't have two blocks in one grid space because each grid space is only allocated a certain amount of data storage...

      Yeah, the amount of polygons that would be in that Enterprise example is a bit ludicrous. I'd much rather someone have, eh, 5 decks in that thing (including engineering), than something canon-accurate that's filled from bow to stern with interior details. :\

      Get Schema to add directional textures for slabs, if that capability doesn't exist already. Use the fairly squish-safe Display Block side textures (or a recolored, black version, for buttons) for everything but the large faces of the slabs.

      Yeah. Personally I'd be happy with just the computer, light and button 1/4 slabs... While 1/2 and 3/4 slabs are awesome for building there's no reason why the "space-saving" and/or aesthetic options should be expanded beyond 1/4 slabs.

      Making all this will require a lot of IDs, but regardless I support this. Not sure if logic blocks or lights should become/get slabs, but scaffold, grilles, all computers, buttons, doors etc... Sure. By the way, all hull/armour types including crystal armour already have slabs in the latest dev...

      Sort of, sometimes, when there isn't a significant difference in thrust. However manually aiming at one another (which tends to be imprecise sometimes) and being auto-oriented to one another are two completely different things.
