Damn, so close XD. Oh well, maybe next time (if I decide to run again).
Thanks for that gif btw, it's incredibly easier to understand than a messy pile of stats
I'd call that more an aberration than a doomcube to be honest (and I'm being polite).
That or the worst f*****g pile of *** d*mn crap this game has ever seen, that works too.
You're in luck! I made a suggestion a couple of days ago to help fix that:

Please go support it if you want it to happen :P
Afaik it's not because they can't. Beams intentionally can't shoot down missiles due to balance.
And AI can use beams, it's just derpy because it still works with the cannon mechanic, so it tries to lead the target as if it were shooting a cannon. At least that's the feeling I got from testing...
Pirate stations only call in reinforcements when they are shot at, possibly only when blocks get destroyed (I'm not too sure since one-shot their shields all the time). So if you just tank the turrets without shooting it it'll be easier to achieve.
Here I am, feeling proud, sitting on my little gravity tube hub that contains 130-150 logic blocks.
And then there's you, with a flippin' computer made up of TWENTY THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT FUCKING LOGIC BLOCKS. I lift my hat to you good sir, this is truly amazing.
It's more to mess up everything enemy related. Heat seeking missiles, navigation, turrets, drones, etc... I have a working version but a bug prevents it from working 100% of the time.
The chaff is rack mounted, so it's very simple to reload.
Can't that be done with advanced build mode and right click? :p
And is there no tutorial on blueprints? If not, than wow.... that's one of the core aspects of the game.
