Same here. Except that in my case it's underpowered computer issues. I'm tired of burning my hands on an overheating laptop, so I won't be playing much until getting a new computer (which should be fairly soon).
I'd love have a very inconspicuous looking ship which would just unveil A METRIC FUCKTON of guns, missile launchers and turrets in "combat mode". That's definitely something I'd like to build in the future.

This is what I'll do when the update comes out;
Total turret refit. Every turret model will have to be updated and replaced.
Drone system upgrade.
Better hangar doors and hangar system. Possibly having a tray slide out onto which the ship will dock and then slide back into the hangar.

There's two ways to do it.
Have a core undock from the main ship and get pushed into an area trigger on the drone rack with a two block beam/push array (all via logic). That way it'll trigger the undocking sequence on the drone rack and pushing if you have the push system mounted on the rack...
Ok, the systems are going to have to wait a while because they're a f*cking massive pain to make. Not because of their size, but because of how underpowered my comp is for the task (massive lag spike every time I place down a shield block, they don't render instantly, which isn't productive)...
