We always find glorious workarounds :P
We could at least have secondary drone rack shipyards that are positioned in a way that you barely need to move it in order to dock to the main ship. I know that's entirely feasible.
They still play the game afaik, having a forum presence isn't mandatory for server domination :p
The Vaygr operate more like a sleeper cell then an actual faction. When they're something interesting to do or shoot at you'll see sudden spikes of activity, the rest of the time they just play...

Really? I'm not having any problems. Besides, if you fire 90 missiles at least one of them is bound to hit.
If you want to intentionaly ignore a valid weapon because of "possible" hit registration issues I won't stop you :P
Hmmmm, I would never go 100% armor since even a very small amount of shields would make you avoid unnecessary scratches.

With proper balance I could see this work. Things such as a very limited range (scanner range), being unable to go back to controlling the ship you're on without losing complete control over the remote ship (unless you redock it or it gets destroyed) and requiring a good amount of power to...
Do all the diagonaly placed blocks in the angles part of the C shape have a touching faces? Cause you can't just have the corners touching, if that's what you did.
What's the distance between your ribs btw?
Also, did you watch the update video? If not then do so right now :p
