Because it was "optimized" and save times went up like crazy on servers with big databases. I guess the optimization slightly optimized saving small databases but messed up big servers.
Schine has the numbers, since they can obtain them from steam. There's also the fact that you must authenticate to play on servers and such, so that's a pretty good indication of numbers. I doubt that they'd make the numbers public though.
I noticed something interesting; Once the turrets complete their initial turn towards the target there's barely any lag. Probably since they don't need to move much afterwards. Am currently at 30 turrets on my ship and it's still playable.
Oh yea, it'll definitely cause less lag. But anything that's inside the bouding box of the ship will have collision checks since otherwise there's no way for the game to know if things are colliding. I'm currently testing it, 4 turrets don't seem to be causing much fps drop. Currently installing...
Yea, there used to be 105 on my ship. Now with the current docking system I can set their default orientation to have every angle covered at all times. The only thing is that I'm pretty sure 105 turrets will completely kill my computer, even if they don't collide with anything (collision checks...
Uh... if you're a solo player worried about attacks you could always make the planet your homebase you know? I really don't see how an additional way to get ressources would make it harder to obtain cap ships.

Has 5 outputs of 100% cannon/cannon and 360 degree rotation to avoid collision lag. There's still some lag due to collision checks, but it's not nearly as bad as actual collisions.
Soooo, I just made a new point defense turret. It has 360 degree rotation freedom so hopefully they won't cause too much lag.

Couldn't you give it space underneath so that the barrel section doesn't collide when aiming down? I mean sure, it'll shoot into the ship, but it'd eliminate a good portion of the lag
Aesthetically I think that it checks most of the boxes (at least for me).
Pros: - Functionality wise it has two 100% cannon/cannon outputs, 90° arc of fire (up).
Cons: It can't aim down and as such causes lag when trying to force it's way through it's joint to aim at a low target.

I thought it was too at first when refitting a turret, calculated it. Turns out it's not. I quadruple checked with Lancake in chat and we both came up with the same results as what was in-game.

It gets rejected because it's not a bug. That's the grouping power nerf actually working. There's a 10% power increase for every additional group being used (it's not compounded btw, so a weapon composed of 3 groups will require 20% more power). Afaik this applies to all weapons.
