I finished up with my personal combat version some time ago. The weapons aren't super impressive, but the shielding is. 23mil shields with 2.5mil recharge. Quite tanky :) I have built a turret complement for the vessel. I can upload that if anyone wants it :)

I still consider it the best option. It provides more freedom to building ships with turrets than any other option thus presented. In addition, it would greatly reduce the entity count on ships in general, which would be amazing for performance problems in that area.

I was thinking just give the shields of the mothership to the docked entity - make them one big entity. That way, turrets can be smaller and yet still be effective. It would also put more emphasis on good shielding. But yes, turrets used to fire through their motherships, which is wildly...

When we say catapult, we all mean a push cannon with a small force firing at a small artillery shell, right? The fact that there are multiple ways to do this kinda blows Minecraft away. I mean, INTERPLANETARY ARTILLERY.

I refuse to pass judgement on the new HUD until i see the full picture. Looks good so far though :)

The new docking system should really help with that, I think. Its not a huge priority, but it will be easier once we get the new update. Anything is better than the current system at this point :D

Use a combo of Cannon-Cannon and Cannon-Missile. I can't say it works like a charm, but I'm betting it works better than just cannon-cannon.

Which is unfortunate. For the forums. On teamspeak we like to strategize and share ship building strategies, and how the new update(s) will change our habits.

Even that will change soon. Most large ships are required to have turrets onboard with very little in the way of primary weapons to ensure they cannot be out-maneuvered. Once the turret turning nerf is applied, turrets will become much more specialized.

*on the forums. Most of the respectably-sized servers have a larger active playerbase on Teamspeak than the forums alone. :)
