My take on a new AMC system

As you, we are planning to nerf the firing rates of large cannons. This means that our firing rate might drop down pretty low. I think it might be interesting if instead of having a reload speed that changes with block count, we have a \"heat\" buildup in place of this. The amount of heat...

Repair schematics, debris feilds, new sheilding, OH MY!

Regarding different kinds of shields: Thanks for making all of my ships complteley defenseless due to this new system. Clever Girl

      New Core Death Effect

The repair beam is a bit useless anyway. Why not give it a real purpose? Also, recovery could be prevented by contiuning to blast the core or shoving an asteriod or other ship at it.

      More Weapons

You could have the system be so that each volley from a computer is a 5-10% chance to bypass on just one shot. This way if you miss with part of a volley, you could be wasting damage. This seeems like a tactical weapon, not a huge DPS source. Probably the missle should wind up hitting a fairly...

      New Core Death Effect

How about the explosion starts when the ship hits another object or after a countdown like now? This means that shooting down fighters would be a bit more dangerous, since they keep going and might smack you and blow up?

My take on a new AMC system

Currently DPS favors shotguns. A penalty should be applied, either fire speed or damage, to shotguns to make make block count the only factor in DPS. I personally would prefer seeing a damage reduction to shotguns. This results in specialization: shotguns are used to spam smaller shots to take...

Piloting seats, control consoles, and dealing with incredibly silly core centralization.

As why use the console to undock, have you seen some of the carriers on the site? Some of them have well over ten fighters and computers avalible to them. Being able to just launch them all would be awesome. As for the up/down thing, I agree with you. I was mentioning it was useless. There\'s a...

Space battles should be more epic

You would be fighting back all the way, right? As opposed to your shields going down and getting drilled, now your shields go down and they target everything, meaning you have time to kill them, or bail out and activate and AI while you flee the battlefield, or wait for reinforcements., or...

Piloting seats, control consoles, and dealing with incredibly silly core centralization.

I think the console block is an excellent idea. How about we also be able to use it undock fighters as well? As for the up/down switches to docked ships, I tend to avoid that because I wind up cycling through all my cannons before I wind up at my shuttle, in more time than it takes to walk to...

Space battles should be more epic

How about we have a system where blowing up the core doesn\'t matter in combat? You can still control the ship even if the core gets destroyed. If the core is destroyed, it vanishes until the player exits the ship. In order to get the core overheating and make the ship salvagable, you must...

      Engine Trails

One of my ships has engines running along the power framework so it take advantage of box size. It would look stupid with trails. But having my fighters with trails? awesome

      A Few Notes....

We already have a map (even if it needs work badly.) We could modify it so it only shows things you have discovered (say, within 2 sectors.) Pretty sure all that would be needed in the code would be a boolean \"discovered\"

      Name Plex-Doors

Problem is that you would either be limited to slots you aren\'t using: a maximum of 10 slots if you weren\'t using anything. I would suggest having a system where you can name all of your computers, door groups, and plexstorages. These names are then displayed in the structure tab. So that way...

Space battles should be more epic

Just how many ships have you blown up, firing manually, from outside visual range? The IFF beacon has to go somewhere, so why not put where no one will put the core. And if donuts become common, those will at least take a little more skill to make into indestrucible uberships.

      Rail gun ready for testing

You want a weapon with shield and block penetration. Because of these properties, it will be a 1-hit KO. To balence this: It will have a low rate of fire and a high energy cost. Because it is the only weapon in the game to have shield-penetrating capabilities, it should also take down the...

Space battles should be more epic

well, I suppose completey making turrets useless is bad. I suppose the AI/seeker missles would be set to target any random block on the hull and then occasionally switch, meaning that having plenty of hull is now useful. Let\'s set the IFF beacon the center front of the ship. Why? Because if...

My take on a new AMC system

The more AMCs you have connected to a weapons computer, the slower the reload speed. Not the AMCs that are connected, just the amount of you have connected to a single computer. Wait, do you mean: each individual cannon connected to a computer, each individual block connected to a computer...

Space battles should be more epic

@imperial_gold: loot dropping is setable in the server config. Taking stuff out of the shops would work to an extent, but you should probably still have the ability to sell stuff to the shops. The merchant faction needs materials to build their own ships, right? However, it wouldn\'t completely...

My take on a new AMC system

It\'s not so much that shotguns are wide as the are usually long. I\'m not sure what the length an AMC needs to be to put out 400 damage per shot but I know that it is over 40. At that point it is another nerf against small spaceships. Maybe a mechanic where the more guns are on a computer the...

      simpleModular weapons and armour

So there wouldn\'t be a stratergy in using it, just creating it? No reason not to fly around at boost all the time, not reason not spam your anti-tank rifle all over the place, as opposed to a rifle that won\'t one-hit everyone?
