      Read by Schine Pyramid Block

Exactly. With the bits available, there's only 1024 or 2048 (i'm not sure which) block IDs available. No more than that. The blocks are already in a database. There is no way to give more Block IDs without expanding the block data beyond 3 bytes. Personally, I think the game could go to 4 bytes...

      Procedural stations

Imagine how mind-bogglingly huge a procedurally-generated station could be. It would be magnificent. The exploratory possibilities would pretty much be a game type unto itself. People would brag about the size of stations they found. Exploring deep space for new stations and related content...

      Computational Feasibility of Ship Atmosphere

By that logic, there should only be a need for one or two shield generator blocks, depending on need for backup systems, with shield generation being purely a function of excess energy generation.. (That might be an interesting change to the core gameplay, actually, but I digress...) If you...

      DISCUSS! Hull Repair/Regeneration

I remember other space games where there was an onboard repair system. It repaired things very very slowly, and might not repair it all the way (maybe only up to 50% or 80% of the original system's efficiency), but it was an absolute thrill when a shattered system suddenly buzzed to life, and I...

Damage drop off, close range skirmishes and other changes

I would definitely like the option in the server configs to help make different universes behave differently. It would be a fun addition. Maybe different settings for all the different combos. (16 vs. 4)

Suggested Encourage Battles by going green (Recycling)

If nothing else, AI shops could simulate recycling by reducing excess material inventory, such as rock, and adding a lesser amount of something more useful to inventory, like shield blocks. Shops need some reason to reduce their excess inventories, so that players can continue to sell to them.

New Core Element for Modular Components

I agree with Viridis00. I'd definitely like this to be built into a rail docker, for a one-block rail solution. Smaller attachments don't have a lot of room, so having both a core and a rail docker on one small attachment hurts creativity. Combining the functions into a single block makes sense...

      Scanners and Targeting

How would tiers work? Slaving weapon computers? Maybe slaving effect computers could give additional effects/tiers. (The more variety, the better, I say!) Examples: Ability to target Non-essential subsystems: link a cannon computer to the scanning computer Ability to target Essential subsystems...

[Payment for Interaction] Integrate Credits Into Logic

This line of discussion brings up a valuable point: The credit activation block could be more like a chest, in that it can take credits or any combination of blocks to activate. (E.g. "Please deposit 3000 credits or a shield capacitor block or a shield generator block for service.")

How do I calculate my ship's DPS?

Has incorrect damage reporting in the weapons menu been fixed? I remember folks on the forums warning people about the weapons tab being inaccurate in the past.

      Ships: unique sounds/fog horn

It would definitely take the game in a funnier direction. I think the overall attitude of the community is to have this be a relatively serious game, but I could be wrong. For now, I think this suggestion is premature until sounds are more fully integrated into the game.

      Building Help!

Another tip is to download a ship or two you like from Community Content, and customize as desired. (delete existing system blocks to see how they are put together, put in your own preference for systems, like replacing a weapon system with a salvage cannon, etc.) You may have to start over from...

Read by Council New planet type suggestion to supplement dodecahedrons

Cutting up the continents would be no problem. Forming the ocean mesh around the continents gets more complicated, but maybe that would be no problem also. Here is a basic idea from a profile/cutaway kind of view to help clarify the layers.

Read by Council New planet type suggestion to supplement dodecahedrons

Yeah, I placed squares to show how relatively easy it would be. It would be nice to have more natural-looking continents. I'm not sure how dynamic meshes (and associated water blocks) work versus static ones, so I'm not sure how more natural continents would work.

      Sympathy for the Pirates

Isn't this mostly a blueprint permission issue? So the real suggestion is to turn off all permissions by default with newly saved blueprints, so that the blueprint manager has to manually apply permissions for each new saved entity to any factions they choose. Such a thing is probably already...

I Want This But I Have Questions

The engine has been in development by the core developer for about a decade now. It's his dearly personal project. He only just recently brought two more developers into the team with him. It's a big project for such a small team, and since money is tight, the team has to focus on their "day...

When making ships, do you completely fill it's insides?

And by all means, we are not talking about filling the space outside the hull. If you have a great-looking hull, we aren't saying that you should turn the ship into a giant cuboid. To be clear, we are discussing the blockspace that falls neatly inside the established hull. To further clarify, I...

When making ships, do you completely fill it's insides?

If you are happy, you are happy. However, some of us can never have enough shields. Or thrust. Or power capacity. Or cargo storage. Or....

      Sensor Beacon Tracking System

I like this idea. I think the beacon should have a massive, certain energy draw, that doesn't show up in the build mode, to be a way that careful spacers could discover that they have a beacon attached. ("Where's that extra 50k energy going?? What's this box in the hold? Why does it have the...
