      Rejected Basement Universe

The problem is that the game must then load this sector. Far easier just to pack all the logic into one block, as has been suggested before. Heck, you could even make blocks that contain basic logic circuits (Clocks, various forms of basic manipulation) to save a lot of space.

      Planned Faction Points Economy

Blaza, when Star is talking random, he's talking about the same idea that I am. The redistribution of FP among unexplored systems. Not among local areas, though that IS an interesting alternative, but in systems that nobody has ever harvested FP (Preferably) or that nobody IS harvesting FP in...

      PvP Anti-Player Research

I think the biggest problem with the big-ship-domination theory is other players.... They hate you for the lag you cause, and eventually you will fry enough GPUs to cause everyone to kill you.

Turret construction best practices and questions

Yeah, most of my turret designs, in order to maximize firepower and self-sufficiency, are unshielded. That said, all the turret designs I'm working on are unfinished, pending integration with a vessel that's been on hold for a few days. I am, however, going to be looking into the metrics of...

Read by Council Jump effect should only occur on exterior blocks

Well, if you think about it, it doesn't need to calculate inside vs. outside. We'll be getting an O2 mechanism sometime, and that mechanism could be used ---easily, I'd think--- to change the effect based on O2/no O2.

      PvP Anti-Player Research

Possibly, but unlikely. Yes, the big ship is easier to spawn, but that's not quite the best plan, to base your military off of ease of production.... Really, the inefficiency for fighters come in that they are going to be less durable and more prone to loss, while having fewer effective weapons...

Brainstorm This Option to have AI shoot a specific block type.

Well, nightrune, that'd be one of the lower levels of scanner power. So, if you have a 50-block scanning array, say, you can gain the information that there is a lot of energy (In the form of electromagnetic emissions, which my suggestions are based around) focused in this or that general area...

Brainstorm This Factory Coordinator Computer [Slightly updated]

I'd argue that some people will use factories as a form of competition---he who rebuilds his fleet faster wins the next engagement.

      PvP Anti-Player Research

Part of this came up in the Drone Wars competition thread for season 2. The metrics and ideas behind big ship vs. little ship and the relative efficiencies. The end result is that small ships are more efficient than large ships, because a fleet of 10 small ships made of a grand total of 1000...

      Planned Faction Points Economy

Really, the pool idea is not a broken system simply because you say it is. What is the reasoning? Why does redistributing points take away from this economy? Exactly why, not "It does" or "Randomness destroys planning". My idea is not the random redistribution among factions, which would truly...

      PvP Anti-Player Research

Hey, using a bigger gun is ALWAYS better for PvP. If at first you don't succeed, come back later with a bigger weapon.

      Planned Faction Points Economy

Really? What is the problem with randomly redistributing FP around unexplored systems? Making note of the fact that these FP points have already been consumed, unless we want to make it free to protect assets (By way of refunding "undamaged" FP after the asset is protected) or make it profitable...

      Baffled Armor is Phony?

Your images are broken, at least for me. Sounds like good testing. I'll have another look later, when I'm closer to awake.

      Baffled Armor is Phony?

OK, I wasn't clear enough. I don't mean case-hardening (Which is utterly pointless in a game with no fracturing and no need to bend components) but instead mean using advanced armor to soak up ALL damage, but using hull blocks to provide the AHP to keep an armor tank going. The testing...

Turret construction best practices and questions

I've yet to fully combat-test my vessels, but I build some turrets with embedded citadels on the horizontal rotator (Turrets have 2 axes, and in my terminology the first rotator [The one mounted to the mothership] is the horizontal axis) in order to provide the power needed for each turret to be...

      Baffled Armor is Phony?

I've heard of using advanced armor in front of basic layers, in order to provide the AHP needed to sustain an armor tanker. Maybe try the relative effectiveness of that?

Read by Council Weapon Range Block Scaling

Actually, that handgun bullet would stop sooner than you think....certainly in less time than it takes for the universe to reach a Big Freeze.....though a spontaneous rupture in space-time (Which is technically possible at any moment) or a Big Crunch could prevent it from stopping. Actually...

Read by Council Weapon Range Block Scaling

Actually, space is not a complete vacuum, but has an extremely low concentration of particles. Your handgun bullet would eventually slow down, but it would take a long time for it to stop. These weapons are all, except for the missiles which I will cover in a second, energy-based. Projected or...

Brainstorm This Option to have AI shoot a specific block type.

Well, I'd say that this is a good point to shamelessly advertise another suggestion that I developed...except I know that if you've not read it yet, you won't, because there's pages of discussion on it. The basic premise of that suggestion, or rather the relevant part, is that scanning systems...

Read by Council Weapon Range Block Scaling

Actually, this is a perfectly logical and realistic means of increasing range. A weapon like a beam or our energy-based cannons can travel further because it carries more energy and is therefore still damaging at larger ranges. A larger missile has more fuel and can generally go further than a...
