I'd say make this more of a ship based version of the torch when going up against shielded targets. Shields could drop the damage to 2 or something but not stop it completely.

Well in my case I only fight someone if I have to so I'm usually too busy mining to care much. That said I'd love a way to wide my warpgate paths from enemies unless they find them. This way I can setup a warpgate network and not feel like I'm advertising where to go to find out what I'm up...

hmm wonder if we'll be able to have NPC pilots when they get into the core and fly the ship around like the AI currently does but the up side to this is the NPC AI doesn't go into this FIRE ALL setup and also could be sent on long distance patrols or something. :)

Seems to me the rail docker might have it's dock, and undock facing states mixed up because it has only ever looked like that when in its undock state.
I've seem this with logic rail dockers, they are suppose to simply undock but they've always flipped when sent a logic signal but normally they flip back.
hmm I could see thrusters facing a given direction providing more thrust in said direction than they would others but at this point it'd be too much of a headache to force thruster face direction based thrust without giving some time to phase out this current thrust system.
