Keep in mind this would be configurable on if it could be done or not. So if a server didn't want the stars being blown up it could make it so they couldn't be, same thing with the mineable side to them. Also It'd be rather unhealthy to try and fire weapons at the ranges needed to kill it...
Yes something like this idea would help. Being able to link a Shipyard to a factory and have the thing craft what it needs would solve a lot of headaches. :)
At least the devs let you know the change in question is coming. They could just as easily not tell us jack and totally ignore our very existence. Games like this use people like us as free testers for things that can't be tested in a normal dev environment and if they make a little money off...
Well there are a few ways the TG could get around turret costs for their stations and ships. For stations there could be public turret docking points where people could dock turrets of their own too. As for ships why not have a storage on the stations where someone could drop off finished BPs...

Ever try building a ship bigger than 20m across? You'll need at least as many blocks as it takes to totally fill the build areas you have set. Can't tell you how annoying it is to place blocks only to run out at the same time and watch the game stop halfway.
Easier said than done when you need tons of blocks to build with. XD
Hopefully the devs will get around to doing something about this issue of bigger ship being needed to live. Maybe fleets will solve the issue somewhat.
You have to set to pulls on the storage so it will auto pull, a storage with no pulls set won't pull anything even if it is set to auto pull. No Pulls + Auto Pull turned on/off = nothing moves, Pulls set + auto pull on = things move.
The amount of items made is enough to max some people's factor space out. Grant it I only need a 5^3 area of the spaces to get normal factories going on a bad day but there are people that make thousands of blocks and items in one go.
Cargo Spaces can be linked to factories as well but yes...
What I meant by highest volume item(s) is what item in each has the highest in its stats. I've got about a 1500 per tick factory section on my faction's station depending on what we're up to.
I'm agreeing on the low factory limit part. I need just a tad too many cargo spaces just to get things working again. Still trying to work out a good amount of space though for factories with and without enhancers.
