      Okay, numbers: the max tilt and turning speed of the turret will increase, approaching 90 max tilt and a turn limit based on the size of the turret. One block should be enough for small turrets; anything under ~20m probably should get most of the tilt and decent turning with 1-3 blocks, but...

      Maybe the size of your hinge determines how far it can rotate? I'd rather not have aesthetics limit a turret's field of fire. BTW, one hinge block should be enough for a small turret to rotate all the way up, while the Charon's main turret or anything of that scale would require a lot.

      Hey, could we get gates on ships for heavy capital ship point cost (even more than FTL drive, enough that a ship can barely move with one). I'm thinking modular stations, hauling the gates elsewhere if you need to move base, etc.

      I think since the graphics are loaded once, during boot, there wouldn't be much extra cost to changing the files away from the grid. However I think it would make editing the texture much harder since you couldn't copy/paste between different textures.

      For damping, how about damping only occurs at low speeds. It won't affect youif you want to cruise in realspace, means that bumped ships won't keep going, and you could sen out probes that just keep going (as long as the sectors are loaded)

      Wait, do only connector blocks ignore collision? The entire barrel should ignore collisions. It's not like it would be any more powerful than turrets already are, and a small amount of clipping (IMO) should make a difference.

      Yeah, the missile pods would probably look wrong on a turret dedicated to one weapon. My trident turrets have missiles, but they're embedded into the turret body. Also, they aren't clearly a main turret.

      Target/spotting would probably be an override for normal behavior. You select an AI, and then tell it what to do. (also, if it's in an AI squad, the entire squad will do it.)
