how to FORCE deathcubes to be fancy looking

What's annoying about it? I would rather have the armor-boosts-shields method, as in your way it punishes players for having exposed anything except hull. With armored shields, you get a benefit for having hull, and better hull, but you can still put down anything and have it still be protected.

how to FORCE deathcubes to be fancy looking

Also, shots sometimes phase through a ship and hit stuff inside. I would be ticked if a shot took out my weapons as the fight started.

      Improved Universe

The station is not moving inside a sector. The sector moves, but it can be identified through the same coordinates every time. (system x,system y,system z,orbit, position) Since the gates basically work on /change_sector, as long as the server knows what sector the station is in, it can get you...

how to FORCE deathcubes to be fancy looking

Because for some smaller ships, the docking box is a limitation. My fighters have exposed systems because I decided on a standard size docking module, and all my small ships need to fit in them. Also, that's not going to fix doomcubes as trolls will just coat them in a single layer of hull and...

      Animated water

I don't know anyone who wants water to stay physical for people. I think the question is whether people want it solid for ships. Keep in mind Teh Schema wants to add flowing water to the game. The current water block would be a "solid water" block, while a new "fluid water" block is added. I'd...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

I'm not sure if ships that undock from a factioned ship maintain their faction. If they do, you can use lots and lots of cores to distract the drones, while your own drones ignore them.

      Improved Universe

Your orientation will never need to change. Inside the same orbit, it's exactly the same. Going between orbits will result in some offset in position being necessary, but no orientation changes are needed, because ithe sectors are all square internally. Imagine a brick wall, and each brick is a...

      Improved Universe

You would still be able to warp to a station in orbit of a star, because the station isn't moving in the sector, in much the same you can gate into a station in a rotating planetary sector. If you enter the sector via FTL, then you don't suddenly start moving. Now, if you have a station in a...

Picture time: So this is what the sectors look like from outside the system. And after a while, they start to look like this: However, since the sectors are actually rectanlges connected to each other funny, you don't have to worry about angles, just offsets when going from one orbit to...

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Just in case 30 missiles per second is not enough missiles to make your server explode for you, I am planning an entire cruiser (400-500m) that is nothing but those logic-clocked swarmers and lots and lots of turrets for the purpose of screening carriers and battleships from attack wings.

      Improved Universe

Stop thinking so rectangularly. Omega and I are talking about have cylindrical coordinates for system sectors. Inside the sector, the coordinates are still rectangular. (It looks like the current sectors from inside a sector) Returning to a base would be simple since you wind up inside the...

      Heatseekers, whyyyyyyyy?

IFF blocks. You can mount these on any of your ships, and it will prevent swarmers from attacking your own ships. However, if you know your enemies code, you get your swarmers to fire only at their ships.

Actually, it's 30 different computers. Each is wired to only 14 or 16 tubes. They are on a logic clock, and fire sequentially every half second. With the two reactors, the ship is power-stable while spamming swarmers everywhere.

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Yeah, I have a system on my cruiser with 450 tubes. It does 30 missiles per second because I have no blocks under the secondary. When I first built it, I had full secondaries, and it froze the server in a second. The new version also has better logic. Proximity-fused missiles, hmmm....

      The ultimate drone R&D thread

Hey guys, I know I'm a bit late on this part of the topic, but I have some news on using swarmers against drones: It depends on speed. If the swarm missile is going about 100m/s it's perfect for arcing back and swatting drones on your flanks. If its going faster, then no arcing around and the...

      New faction Concerns

You can issue bounties with them, it's just a good idea to prevent running out, use them to provide boosts to your fleet (I could spending a few points for a shield boost in a given sector. You can turn it on and off in the config.

      Weapons and Charge Effects

I was thinking that the autofire would target one ship in the center of the field of view, like the lockon missile, and then spilt would target multiple ships in that region. If every ship was targeted, you'd have a fair chance of hitting your own allies.

      Damage based ammunition for ships.

I assume you are referring to mass and dps when you said Anyway, having a smaller capacity for smaller drones is a bad idea. Then that encourages full-sized drones as opposed to smaller drones. There would have to be a sweet spot of mass and number of drones on the ship. Smaller ships would get...
