Regardless of whether you think building and making are two separate things, they are not going to give you the ability to trade in a balanced economy, create NPCs who will offer you quests or level-up your pilot with better skills and/or equipment.

I'd have to disagree. If StarMade were purely Sandbox PvP multiplayer then maybe, but it's not. It's also trying to be a PvE RP game too. In which case, it's up to the Devs to provide features for Admins to populate said Sandbox PvP PvE RP multiplayer universe with.

I don't see a systems update as much of a reason to stop building altogether. While it will mean you need to tediously replace systems on an existing ship, you can still design new pretty hulls and then just fill them with the new systems when they arrive.
