StarMade 0.17 Warp Gates, Jump Drives, and a lot more

    Wow, that awesome news !

    Just thinking that be able to jump while under fire could be good (like in FTL). Maybe run two differents "timer". The normal which reset to 0 when hit. And an other which doesn't reset to zero when it, but require 10 more time.

    There is a new requirement (in the news), so basically you can have any size you have, but going under the requirement will in the worst case double up charge needed (if you only build one module for example).

    So you can basically now have any size on any ship
    Uuuuh, was that me making a difference? :P

    it should give a tool like a laser screwdriver or something to hack ship systems or factionmodules

    ok,ignore what i said about fps,if i try to load a ship with 200k blocks,im lucky if i get 30 fps now with low low low settings.. (before this update i could load in 1,5 mil blocks ship with 40+ fps all while on high settings)
    i did notice loooads of new settings in settings.cfg in starmade folder,it might be that one of them is causing mayhem to my game performance,i dont know,i might try to turn them all off ,then turn them on one by one to see which on is the black sheep

    Looking forward to messing with FTL drives, and hope that the occlusion improves my gaming by at least 5 fps. This update looks great!

    ok,after 100(ish) log in-log out,i found the problem,to be sure.. i played game on ultra high settings with 4k background,128x textures,256 VBO,everything was on max everywhere ..no crash :) ok good
    ..the only thing i left untouched was drawn segments,if i set them over 2000 ,bam! crash
    so yeah,if you know why is that.. i can play on max or "ultra" settings,but cant raise drawn segments over 2000 without crashing or getting gl-out of memory.

    just did some testing of blueprints saves and i just discovered that if you save a blueprint with the jump drive fully charged. when u load up that blueprint it starts with the jump drive fully charged!

    Meaning that we could get one free jump from a blueprint!

    I'm still confused as to what Hyperdrive is. How does it work? And what are the mechanics behind it?

    Hacking is indeed planned. ;) I'm looking forward to that.

    Also, perhaps I should compress all these additional tools into special function modes to the Fabricator, assuming a good and smooth GUI for switching it can be put in place.
    I'm aware that a selection UI for Hull colors/shapes and computers/modules was discussed. I can't find that particular thread right now but I can imagine this would fit into that like a glove.

    Eh, there was always a little Pipboy inspiration in its design. ;) But this Pipboy is designed to do a lot more and manipulate the world directly. So a few Pipboy features, but a lot of things a Pipboy could only dream of doing. (And it connects to your nervous system for faster response and better control.)

    I'm aware that a selection UI for Hull colors/shapes and computers/modules was discussed. I can't find that particular thread right now but I can imagine this would fit into that like a glove.
    It'd have to be a GUI that can switch function in a split second, without being too confusing for someone new either.
