IHI is now a subsidiary company of the Tartaran Empire, responsible for the building needs of the Imperial order, military or otherwise. For now, a list of the ships designed and built by Iapetus will be posted:-
Strike Craft:-
XF-23 'Harpy' Interceptor - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap]
The Harpy is an 'Exo Atmospheric' Fighter designed for use in space and atmosphere. Armed with twin autocannons and two tracking missile launchers, and equipped with limited life support and shielding system. The Harpy is not meant for use as a long range fighter capable of extended operation, and relies on the use of Carriers.
XB-72 'Griffin' Bomber - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap]
The Griffon is a craft designed on the chassis of the Harpy. The Griffin is a larger craft equipped with better armour and shielding, but is slower than the Harpy as a result. It is armed with two high yield warhead torpedo bays and two ion warhead torpedo bays. The Griffin relies on the use of Carriers in the same way the Harpy does.
ACc-250 'Centaur' Gunship - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap]
The gunships in the Tartaran Navy and jokingly nicknamed 'Coffins' but it's pilots. Cramped interior means that the pilot has little room move to around and trades the pilots comfort for combat effectiveness. The Centaur is a sturdy craft which packs a surprising punch with it's quad autocannons and the two mounted gun batteries on it's sides.
BCc-252 'Cyclops' Beam Gunship - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap & Mr Targareyan]
The Cyclops is a refitted Centaur that uses a single small calibre 'Erebus' model beam cannon mounted in the nose that replaces it's autocannons as it's main armament. The mounted gun batteries are also replaced with two small scale beam cannon batteries. In terms of armour and speed, it remains largely unchanged. The main difference besides weapons lies in the larger power plant needed to power the new beam cannon.
MCc-255 'Satyr' Missile Gunship - In Design stage
A strike craft designed for slipping through enemy ranks and delivering a large salvo of small heatseeker missiles among enemy ships. The Satyr is also designed to be equipped with two mounted gun batteries for defence.
Capital Ships:-
FA-320 'Chimera' Assault Frigate - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap & MrTargareyan]
The mainstay capital class ship of the Imperial Navy. Used in assault operations, patrols and escort duties, the Chimera is a sturdy ship equipped with 6 medium calibre 'Erebus' model beam cannons in the nose, twin ion cannons, 12 autocannons, and missile launchers mounted in the side of the nose. It's mounted armament include 4 Orthus gun batteries, 1 Lamia Missile battery and 4 point defence guns. This allows the Chimera to handle a myriad of roles and an ever changing battleground.
FD-332 'Manticore' Destroyer - In service [Designer: MrTargareyan/Builder: MrTargareyan]
The prime hunter-killer in the Imperial Navy, the Manticore lives up to it's namesake, seeking out foes with deadly efficiency. A warship, the Manticore is designed purely to kill targets with it's 'Kratos' model MBCS (multi beam cannon system) an exclusive weapon to the Manticore, designed for quite literally shredding opposing ships.
FF-342 'Hydra' Flak Frigate - In Design stage pending Imperial approval
There's very little information on the Hydra as of yet, as the technology needed is still in production and the effectiveness of the ship is in question. It's role as a flak frigate might be reviewed and altered in the future.
CB-453 'Scylla' BattleCruiser - In service [Designer: Incap/Builder: Incap & MrTargareyan]
The main cruiser in the Imperial Navy, the Scylla is a warship designed for frontline combat. The Scylla uses 6 large calibre 'Erebus' model beam cannons (as is standard armament for all TE capital ships), twin ion cannons and missile silos. The mounted batteries include 8 Orthus gun batteries, 4 Cerberus cannon batteries and a number of point defence guns.
CM-458 'Charybdis' MissileCruiser - Currently under review for combat effectiveness. Issues with missile targeting systems. [Designer: Incap/Builder: MrTargareyan]
The Charybdis is currently a prototype cruiser with emphasis on missile delivery. Designed as a support cruiser that keeps away from the frontlines, and supports the fleet with long range missile attacks, but still maintains 6 medium calibre 'Erebus' beam cannons. Issues with the missile guidance systems has stalled the Charybdis's release into full service. The cruiser is currently stuck in the testing stages, in an attempt to weed out the problems with the missile systems.
