    BSI LANCELET POST #1

It's been a while... almost three years, but I started to build a new ship!

I have no name for the ship yet, or images of what the back half will look like since I deleted the miniature model before taking and screenshots. But what I can tell you is that it will likely be around 700 - 800m long when completed. POssibly longer. Anyway, that's all for now. Thanks for reading~

    BSI LANCELET POST #2

I have made some progress on the carrier build since my last post. It has now officially been named the BSI Lancelet. I have also restarted the project because I was not happy with the overall shape and where it was heading. A preliminary hull for the ship has been completed - excluding any details, engines or command structures (bridge). It currently measures just short of 800 M long.

Besides working on this super project, I have also commenced refitting the BSI Serval and BSI Pallas (even though I never finished the Pallas in the first place @_@). Expect some updates on these ships in due time.

    BSI LANCELET POST #3

Since the last update, I have added 10 main turrets and the command bridge. I have almost added engines to the 1/3 scale model to ensure it is appropriate before building the full-scale engines.

Preliminary escape pods have also been installed. They're designed to behave similarly to current-day crew capsules.

    BSI LANCELET POST #4

I present a very small update. I have made several iterations of engine designs but settled on a tri-engine radial configuration on each side of the ship. Please also note that the inferior two engine pods may be replaced with an alternate design that is slightly smaller. This is to add some variety to the engines. However, please leave feedback if you feel as though an alternate design may suit the ship better. Additionally, there is only one more major structure, the inferior sensor array, to be added to the ship until detailing can be commenced. Please look forward to future updates!

    BSI LANCELET POST #5

I have designed the maneuvering thrusters (Figure 5.1) that will be placed around the ship at appropriate locations at a later stage. Ball turrets (figure 5.2) have also been fitted onto the ship and will also be placed at appropriate locations at a later stage. Areas for hangar bay doors have been allocated, as seen in figure 5.3. The engine design (figure 5.4) has been finalized and is ready to be detailed.

    BSI LANCELET POST #6

The command deck of the ship has been constructed (Figures 4 and 5) - this was required so that the core could be moved to an appropriate position before the ship became too big. Detail work on the minor engine nacelles (figures 1,2 and 3) has also been started.

That’s a sweet bridge setup. I sense some Star Citizen inspiration there. Here is a thought. Put the chairs on rails and make them rotate towards the player when approached :D

    BSI LANCELET
    PROGRESS UPDATE #8

The inevitable has happened. I have decided to start construction of the Lancelet again... for the third or fourth time. 😑 However, fret not. The previous build highlighted many areas in the design that could be improved upon. The most significant of which was the hangar. It was simply too small. The new one will be bigger. 🙃
