For me it was summer 2013 to winter 2014. During this time there were so many players on multiplayer and so many interesting personalities everywhere. Became more boring for me since the blueprint update and general player pop has gone down since then.

    Long ago...

There was a time lost to legend...

A time where StarMade servers were not empty and withered...

A time where forum factions exchanged bullets rather then forum posts...

    A time where players undocked...

A time where the game did not buckle under the weight of spaghetticode and bugs...

A time where doxxing was not a weapon used against other factions...

A golden age of this game...

    But those days...

    Those glory days...

Are but a memory of better times...

Replaced by a reality of this games impending death...

    RIP Dedgaem

Mid 2015. A time when the game and systems were advanced to roughly the current level, but the servers weren't totally dead and the BP update hadn't killed off *every* person from the game.

    Hi Ace... Everyone...

I did not have a "Golden Era", I was active for a few months from the turn of 2014-1015 before RL interveined.

idle curiousity... how did BP-update make the game boring?
oh, and how do I get the shiny starmade badge for purchasing?

Hey, I remember your name but cant quite work out where from.

My golden age was an R&D phase from winter of 2015 to summer of 2016 that led to the development of a lot of my current building methods.
One of the best parts was the development of my metropolitan/industrial colony; Maximus Prime on the LvD server. I had a LOT of fun visitors there. Trade and tourism were off the charts. You'd never suspect there was a war going on...

My "golden age of Starmade" was from July 2017 to October 2017 cause of many combined reasons.

    - I designed my best turret and my best engins in this time.
    -The Engine Engine Porn
    -The Turret The turret thread

    - I upgraded my computer with new RAM, CPU and GPU witch greatly improved the performance of starmade.

    - Vacation, work accident and sickness managed me a lot of freetime means a lot time for starmade.

    - Bourght a lot of music during this time. And hearing music during building is always a good thing.

    - Cake server and starmade running stable the last months.

I dont care much about systems (mostly because I hate most of the old systems), I just want build cool looking ships.
I dont being pissed cause I have to rebuild my systems after power update (mostly cause my ships are mostly empty hulls).
I'm not invested a single minute testing the new power system. (Why should I test the new power with old weapons and old defence systems?)

I'm optimistic with the future, I'm optimistic with starmade, I dont cry a single tear for the past.

I'm not sure I had a golden age.
I had loads of fun learning the ropes with PVP on the Freaks server 2015-2016. The admins are awesome and the community is large, varied and also fun. Sadly, lagg, my old PC and the internet distance began to plague me and I haven't played there much.

Recent fun has been spent on the LvD and Australia servers.
Love the LvD custom factions and wrapper. The admins and players are awesome to.
Australia has a great ping and the admins and players are mostly local and a fun group to.

I think if it's around good times with Starmade itself, is when rails came about.
Playing with logic and building automated machines through 2016 to now.
Fleets and shipyards became the next thing for me to enjoy messing around with.
Recent times I've focused on automating factories and storage management.
So I guess the logic and rail side of things has played a big part for me.

tbh I want to blame the lack of activity on the increasingly unstreamlined nature of Starmade. It's just become such a hassle at this point to play the game because of the time it takes to produce resources (legitimately) and the complexity of actually refining those materials and constructing ships. Sure, these actions are simple to do but they require far more time and do not add much to Starmade's PvP scene.

Mining and industry feels like I am doing a chore then playing a game, but I think a this game is dying at a rapid rate because there is almost no content in this game at all, this game is just a glorified stress testing application.

Hey Schine, can I just have some actual content that gives players reasons to undock, eliminates tutrling and doesnt punish me for trying to fight and expand an empire? Thanks in advance.

Hypercores first iteration was above and beyond the most fun I've ever had with skub.

Agree, summer of 2013 to the winter of 2014 was when StarMade was most lively. Pretty much always able to find something to do even with how absolutely feature bare the game was then.

Golden age was probably early-mid 2014 to early 2015, starting with the graphics and rail updates and ending shortly after the universe update came out and then was basically never touched again. Includes Hypercore, Illusive, FUYB, the original Elwyn Eternity and numerous others. Was really when I had the most enthusiasm for the game and the most trust that the developers were constantly heading the right direction with comparatively frequent and quality updates.

There's a lot to be said about the summer of 2013 though. Tons of very cool people that have all but disappeared - I'm thinking of the old Tester group. I think Comr4de, BDLS, myself, MrFURB and Crusade are all that's left of those guys.

Mid-2014,when RedShift was the top of the ranks. Best server I've played on.(best banking systems, best Admins, awesome community) I was really sad to see it go down :(
After its downfall, I settled onto Elwyn Eternity. Real fun times I had over there (capturing my friends in a "prison cell", building some of my better builds "Blaze Cruiser" etc etc)
and then in 2016 I moved onto CraftAu. Decent enough to try med-builds, planets weren't too laggy either.
But, death and destruction soon followed- CraftAu and Elwyn Eternity went down too.
    I was devastated :(

Since then, I've just been shifting from server to server, eventually just doing Singleplayer....
Its been a hard life for me.

2013-14 and every two years or so there's an uptick. 2015 was great and 2017 has been too, at least recently.

sth around 2013-2014, when servers like FUYB, Redshift, Elwyn Eternity were still there and populated. The absolute peak was even before jump drives were introduced. Lots of player encounters back then and space flight/exploration was still fun and more than just a couple of jump animations :) damn, getting so nostalgic atm, but it was those days when starmade had that charm and myth which it kinda lost over the last years.

I find myself longing for the good old days on Shattered Skies, before and after the shipyards were introduced. Things were golden then, I had friends on the server, and we did stuff that I haven't been doing since (saving ships from a sun sector, lurking at a friends base, not being worried that someone would actually come and shoot me just for kicks, because PvP wasn't a thing on that server).

Most of it ended after SS went down, I relocated to Brierie with a friend, but it was never the same, different server, different rules.
