I think it does not look like a prison with all that glass.

If prisons don't try to magically re-integrate peoples in social life by keeping them completely separated from it, who cares about the security of prisoners?
And where do the peoples life?

Even if it is going to be an automated prison, it needs psycho-docs and mechanics who don't want to life in a completely boring environment - maybe they use private car-sized ships to visit their families? Then you need docking ports :)
As I said, that's the PRISON CELLS. The staff facilities will be located in the upper portion (which doesn't exist yet). Besides, why would you assume that alien psychology works the same as ours do hmmm?

That's really just 40% of the station you're seeing there :P

Here's my submission: A Pirate Asteroid
    Community Content Link

It's a pirate base hidden with in an asteroid. I've got some cool features including a tractor beam that pulls vessels towards the hangar. A vessel being repaired inside the hangar with a turret that fires at you. A control centre with blast shields that come down over the windows and activate emergency lighting. Lots of corridors that have been mined through the asteroid etc.

    Imgur Album

Pretty enjoyable to build except for having to encase everything in rock, and then working out how to turn a bunch of rectangular blocks of rock into the more smoothened look you see now took forever. Here's a couple of good pics:

Well, this thread has officiated my return to the StarMade community. I shall no longer lay dormant, wallowing in my pile of now-defunct ships.
But fixing the ships can wait, because I just started a Trading Guild Station! I am not quite sure what role it will fill, but it is about 500m tall, and 300m wide and deep. I am aiming for a sleek, yet industrial design. I'll post pictures when the basic shape is complete.

    Update 1:
I thought I could trust the measurements in the stats list... It turns out that they can still occasionally be inaccurate...
I should have something worth posting initial pictures of within the next 48 hours.
Also, I have gotten closer to deciding upon the station's designation. It will have plenty of storage space for smaller vessels (with sub-hangars that are conveniently Isanth-sized), as well as space for commerce and socialization. With that in mind, I think it is larger than an outpost, but not quite as large as a full-sized base of operations. Maybe it's a deep space station...

I will upload these as I take them.
    Day 2
Here is an early teaser. Does it look familiar? I thought I would pay homage to the original abandoned station design. Fret not, however, for things can only diversify from here.

Are we allowed to make dungeon style stations? I've been thinking of making a derelict version of my station where people have to go through the (now opened) cell area in order to access the main reactor and reactivate it. All in order to open the vault containing the prisoner belonging (loot!).

Especially with hostile procedurally generated creatures it would be a blast :D

Neat asteroid base. I was gonna do one because I thought it'd be super slick and original, but 2 have already been posted now that I know of, so its time to back out. (And it's a ton of work, haha)

Hey, just because two other people have done it doesn't mean it won't be awesome. I think this has potential!

Thanks, it's a bit of work, but it's heaps of fun, time to build another station for the other categories!!!

o_O I had been planning such things for quite a long time. All your typical switches around the base, each controlling the next, all set to faction permission, so that it would be just as easy to eat the station as to explore it. But exploring would be much more fun :D

guys, I am having a bit of trouble, do I have to export my blueprint to make them compatible with the StarMade website? it only accepts .SMENT files. What I have done so far:
    -in-game:
/save (saved my station as a blueprint)
ship catalog manager: exported the station
would it accept this as a viable alternative?

I guess there's 3 now. Still lots of work left to do as it looks pretty barren. The only downside I am regretting at the moment is that it ate up nearly a whole week just do the asteroid, leaving me with 2 weeks to do the actual station part.

If you want to export a station so others can use it, use the command: export_sector (x,y,z,) (desired name of sector)
I don't think it will save it as a SMENT file, its SMSEC file for sectors. Then you can upload it.

On a separate note. I am slowly making progress on my pirate station!

well, when I exported it, it saved all of my ships as .SMENT files. Go figure. Going to ask right now. Calbiri, which would be easier to use after downloading: a .SMENT or a .SMSEC?

It may have saved any ship that you had floating in space along with the space station if they were in the sector. Remove them from the sector. Force save and then export it. SMSEC files are the only ones that can be imported as sectors to another persons client. That's what they are for.

look in blueprints/exported/the name you specified with "/save mystationname"

Quite wrong bro. "/load mySavedStation myIngameStationName" is how you import a .sment file. Sector saves are for when the positioning REALLY matters, like a station wrapped around a shop, or a Dyson sphere.

woah .. really nice floating stone :D
Is it done all by hand or did you use a tool for that part ?
Or did you grab a stone from the garden and copied that ?

I wanted to do an asteroid base thingy myself ... but now i am slightly depressed that mine will not look even half way as good as yours or the one that Ki11aWi11 posted. --- but i guess i will do it anyway ... its so obvious to do with all the asteroids floating around in StarMade ;)
