I must convince the people at Schema to allow two 'wedge' pieces to be able to cohabit the same square, so you can make wedges flush with each other rather than leaving gaps. :)

Mystery it's great to see the SM community continuing to expand, stay tuned and keep flying. Remember, they can't take the sky from you.

Darkkon, you are very kind. :)

I did mention earlier I had been building a warship. Here is a picture of her from a few days ago.

That was her in formation with two rather nifty ships designed by ASM. They are a bit smaller, but significantly more powerful!

Then, sadly, more formation shots with better looking ships! These two are alongside a 'good team' cruiser.

You can see here how the nose part is still vastly unfilled! What I do like, however, is that several players on the server have similar design elements on turrets. I am happy we have some commonality in the galaxy!

And to be fair, it's not just the Grey Star that likes her engines grey and shiny..

    These are good ships.

Though a bit of advice: One, you can use docked parts to make two wedges in the same space. Two, you can use crystal wedges on the interior of your engines to smooth those out.

Thanks It, but that's ice, not crystal, so no wedge blocks..

Well folks, the server died, but before they shut it down they let us take away our blueprints. I will make a better and bigger version of that warship someday. Only bigger because I can't build turrets with any punch, without them looking silly. Before saving her with aload of stupid looking turrets, I did try some planetary assault missions.

This meant I needed a ship I could visit planets with, so I found a space on the back nestled in the hull, and I added a little shuttle.

[DOUBLEPOST=1460923047,1460922291][/DOUBLEPOST]In other news, I decided to try a bit of a speed build today.

I have long thought the trusty shop needs updating. It clearly predates wedges, and it's a bit uggo. Have only seen one shop in community content and it was quite snazzy, the thing is, there are a lot of these shops around, and if you want to keep your server speed up... well, you need fairly basic.

So I build one, quite simple, added power and some moderate shields, a medical cabinet, a display module and a little reactor room, otherwise, she is just a simple little shop with under 20,000 blocks and took about 2 hours.

Bit smaller than a proper shop

But same sort of design, since this was a modernisation, not a rebuild, per se.

Heh, that's very kind. I'll settle for someone using it on their server and not hating it. To be honest, I've never even looked to see if the shop model can be replaced via config or something... :)

Maybe the mods will have a 'shop' competition one day?

    Ahh....

And that looks a lot cooler.

Well, I'm sure some people will be able to use it as some far out, frontier trading post from a low tech civilisation... or target practice. :)

Lot of awesome stuff in that Criss thread, thanks for the link!

You're very kind (Possibly also blind) but I would say mine is simple, more than nice.

Still, there is a good building challenge in and of itself, to keep things simple and basic and not go overboard with the detail. The plan was for quick and plain, so it met that goal.

But yes, the official one looks dreamy!

Neat. My current utility ship is ... literally ... about 15 blocks. 3 thrusters, 1 core, 1 faction mod, probably 5 or so reactors, and an astrotech setup of about 5 modules and CPU.

Well, there was an unfortunate incident this evening where somehow the 'protection' setting got switched off and the server's pirate fleet turned up.

Turns out this pirate fleet has capital ships...

This is all that's left of my two utility ships, and the poor Admin's carrier got torn to shreds, and the station I'd been working on got banged up a fair bit...

So this week was a bit of a blow out. Next week, we start with military ships, since nothing in our build sector had any guns, it was a complete massacre!

Ouch. You should set up a defense fleet and have it set to target any hostiles entering the adjacent sectors. Keep that sector on Protected and don't allow the fleets to enter, but have them defend all 6 adjacent sectors.
And also ... set up something to tell you when that fleet gets engaged so you can fast-save and move out.

Uhm, so I had an idea for a tiny little AMS turret platform. A small ship with 16 AMS turrets to act as a fleet escort, I was going to make three to protect everything else I built but since I started from the inside I made it a bit big... And a bit more decent than I meant to.

Might now make this the 'big' ship in the official fleet build contest entry, as I haven't started my fleet yet, because I've spent a whole week on this bugger. :)

Hmm, think Photobucket is trying to give me viruses... Going to have to move all my images off!

I really like the front of that ship, it looks epic. All my photos are on steam :P Not sure if you use steam to launch SM but it's a great place to hold your pics.

I believe her longest dimension is 104m. I usually build quite small ships. Titan's seem like so much effort. :)

My thanks. I was pleasantly surprised myself. :) Still have some gaps inside to fill with systems, and 4 more turrets to add, but I'm more pleased with her than I'd intended. Am just glad the nice folks at Ragnarok allowed me to download it to my local drive. :)

I think I like it so much because I try to do the same thing to an extent. I use the ships from 5th Element for inspiration. There's just something about a ton of comms arrays that just scream space awesomeness.
