Debate : Current spreading of the faction community : good or bad ?

The forumside factions are lacking a server hub. This is a good thing ? Or bad ?

You are assuming that the output is located on the front, while the right thing to do is making it exactly close to the computer systems and the core. It also takes time to actually kick the core.
    No she's not :P
We've done enough testing to determine that while it takes some time, you can still disable such a system at no risk to your astronaut.

The output will always have at least one block behind it. It is impossible given the games mechanics to do otherwise.

Couldn't you just have six outputs facing six different directions?

What are you talking about ?
So, pulses are not AOE as the effect suggests ? Sounds like a bug spirit.

They go out from their output. Not centered on their output block. It projects in front of the output.

Doesn't this reaffirm my example though?
No, because you'd need six outputs to cover all possible directions, and you could either have one hit kills with overdrive and pulse/beam or something, but that has a long enough down time that you could figure out the pattern and get in/out safely and disarm it, or it would have to be pulse cannon to avoid dipping in and out but that'd allow for time to get another astronaut and another and another.

Or you can use swarms. Boom, done.

Missiles seem to have difficulty hitting small targets.
Really? I'm not having any problems. Besides, if you fire 90 missiles at least one of them is bound to hit.

If you want to intentionaly ignore a valid weapon because of "possible" hit registration issues I won't stop you :P

Possibly, seemed weak when we looked at it but it might work. I don't really have anything against it on others' ships, I just won't put it on my ships :P

I was once dicking around with Crusade on NFD server, he fired off like a dozen missiles and none of them could hit me in astronaut mode so long as I kept moving. Is a fun little game.

When Dread Syndicate attacked Thryn's homeplanet on GenX, they had multiple astronauts on their ship. One of their games crashed, and since this was before astronauts-respawn-on-ships, he ended up logging back in after his friends had left. He started fleeing in a core. I was unable to hit him with multiple volleys of lock-ons (and the server was too laggy to hit him with cannons or beams). Eventually I just ended up letting him go.

I've seen some factions use a chapter system to maintain a presence on multiple servers. Think of it kind of like how a biker gang is set up. You have the mother chapter on the faction's original server and should you ever feel the need to expand you can establish a chapter on another server where a few people actively play so the faction stays involved.

Now, for my own input, I think this is bad. There are less chances of something actually happening now (the only feature starmade has aside from building is fighting. so wars are a must to keep the willigness to play filled) since serverside factions are (mostly) less likely of looking for trouble.
I just decided to log in to make a few posts regarding the lack of reason for combat across starmade servers. When I played (quit about 3 months back) I traveled server to server seeking interesting faction war.. and found zilch. If there's some action out there, i'd love to come back and get involved in some combat.. Though with resources as they are, there's so little reason for it aside from RP.. which is fine.. though I had troubles finding even that.

A lot of times, if you move onto a new server, you'll find plenty of bands of asshats who think they're top dog. You get plenty of combat by hopping servers and shooting them down every few months, in the hopes of showing them the light of keeping up with the rest of the community.

I call it the Forumers' Burden. Go forth, eat asteroids and pirates, and subjugate the natives.

You might be interested in checking out Hypercore then. Both the Helkan Imperium and Thryn have settled there, and both are fairly large factions. There are also a couple of pre-existing factions on the server which are pretty active. All in all, interesting things are brewing in that corner of the universe.
